This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
One of the finest examples of decadent and tribal rock & roll, "Sympathy for the Devil" features Mick Jagger luxuriously slipping into the persona of Lucifer and reveling in the role. With its frenzy of percussion and primal shouting, this iconic track even inspired Jean-Luc Godard's film of the same name, which follows the song's 1968 London recording sessions.
Twenty-five years after its release, "Sympathy" gets a tip of the hat from a set of tech-savvy contributors on this seven-song EP. Pop/hip-hop producers the Neptunes apply their trademark sharp beats and thudding bass to two lively, Eastern-tinged remixes that focus on Jagger's sinister vocals, while Big Beat guru Fatboy Slim amps up the piano and percussion on his two boisterous, dance-floor-ready tracks. Of course, nothing can compete with the original recording, a rhythmic, piano-driven, Satanic soliloquy that crescendos with Keith Richards's blistering lead guitar. The ultimate testament to the Stones' reputation as the bad boys of British rock, "Sympathy for the Devil" is a timeless tribute to the dark side of rock & roll.
Seven versions of the classic Stones' song including the original recording plus six remixes (2 each) by The Neptunes, Fatboy Slim & Full Phatt. Limited. ABK. 2003.
Recorded at Olympic Studios, London, England in 1968.

Contains 5.1 mix of the original version At the time of writing, no-one here has yet mentioned that the multi-channel layer (accessible from a SACD/universal player) contains the original version remixed for surround sound. Since the remastering of the albums was to stereo SACD only, this is the only way I know of to get a 5.1 mix of a classic Stones song. Brilliantly executed and, if you own a SACD player, worth the price of the CD for this track alone. Submitted by mcinsplurge (Sydney, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Stone's Classic Gets Remixed For 2003! This classic Stones song from their "Beggars Banguet" album gets remixed for 2003. There are remixes by The Neptunes, Fatboy Slim & Full Phat. The remixes are all somewhat similar to one another with a new percussion line layered over the original track. There are some special effects also added but that's about it. Also included is the original album version which I still prefer over the new remixes. The only reason to pick up this single is for the cool cover and possible future collectiblity. | | Ozzy Osbourne Ozzmosis CD (1995) Remastered
Sympathy For The Devil
$7.59 Let us all be thankful that Ozzy's retirement didn't stick. It supposedly lasted for three days, after which he got bored and started working on this project. Heavy, riff-intensive tunes, progressive song structures and a little psychedelia give OZZMOSIS a definite Sabbath flavor. Ozzy must have been in touch with whatever inspired early classics like PARANOID and MASTERS OF REALITY. Witness the extremely chunky "Thunder Underground," which can stand up next to "Sweet Leaf" and "Symptom Of The Universe" as an archetype of hard rock. The trippy guitar in "Ghost Behind My Eyes" and "Denial" are not some young Ozzy-wannabe going for a retro sound--this man was there, "Planet Caravan"ing.
Still, this heavy metal daddy in touch with his roots is also hip to the genre's latest sound. OZZMOSIS has a live, up-front feeling, thanks to producer Michael Beinhorn (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden). Zakk Wylde's huge, raw guitar also plays a major role. He provides scorching solos, lush textures and juicy fills with a muscular tone and minimal effects--the perfect complements to Osbourne's songwriting.
But more important than the raging guitars and the big sound is attitude. Ozzy's spunk has indeed rejected retirement. His songs still spew biting commentary at whoever will listen. "Your bulls**t culture licking can't stop the deathwatch ticking/You're only mortal after all," he warns on "Thunder Underground." Ozzy himself may not be immortal, but OZZMOSIS sounds like it is.
Despite a never-ending succession of guitarists, Ozzy Osbourne never changed his basic musical attack over the years. There are slight differences between the records, with the only noticeable distinctions being the production fads of the time. Ozzmosis, his sixth solo studio album, isn't ...
| | Ozzy Osbourne The Ozzman Cometh CD (2002)
Sympathy For The Devil
$9.69 THE OZZMAN COMETH is a single CD collection of hits, previously unavailable recordings and one new track. Previously included a limited edition second disc containing 2 of the 4 previously unavailable recordings as well as an interview with Ozzy Osbourne.
As if we needed another reason to believe that Ozzy Osbourne is God, along comes THE OZZMAN COMETH, a double CD retrospective of one of the most enduring and influential figures in heavy metal. Consisting mostly of his post-Black Sabbath solo work as well as a live version of "Paranoid," this collection's biggest asset is the so-called "basement tapes," never-before-heard rehearsal tapes of four classic Sabbath songs. Dating back to 1970, "Black Sabbath" and "War Pigs" are the songs that transformed a petty thief from Birmingham, England into the godfather of heavy metal.
But if Sabbath cemented his place in the rock 'n' roll canon, his solo work raised him to legendary status. Working with former Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads, Osbourne set the tone for the 80's metal revival with songs like "Crazy Train" and "Mr. Crowley." Capping off the collection is a seventeen minute interview with Ozzy from 1988, where he speaks frankly about the ups and downs in his career (parents be forewarned: this is not for the faint of heart). Ozzy has made it through all the pitfalls of a life in rock and roll and has come out on the other side redeemed and renewed.
Recorded between 1970 & 1995.
