Broto Roy was born into a highly musical family in Calcutta, India where his great- grandfather Rajanikanto was one of India's greatest songwriters and his uncle Dilip Roy is a popular singing star and constant influence. He began to play and learn Indian music from the age of six from noted Tabla master Bidyut Banerjee. I think one of the main things the Lord wants out of a Christian life is that we encourage one another. You never know what people are going through. Being an "encourager" with words, music, and a smile can show people around you that you are filled with God's love! I grew up in a Christian home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where I recognized at an early age that the Lord had given me a love for music and singing. I was convicted to make sure my singing was about Him and not about me.I noticed, while in High School, that the Lord drew me to himself by allowing me to sing for His glory in various ways. I also found "my place" in life or in the body of Christ to serve Him with my voice.I also had many opportunities to use my singing in areas that soon after realized was not the road I needed to travel (pageants). A few high points in my ministry have been being able to sing with Larnelle Harris and my friend Michael Passons of Avalon.I have always wanted to make a CD, but the doors to this endeavor just have not opened until now. I attend the same church as Darko, but I never realized he had a recording company. When I contacted him, he had the perfect gifts and the matching willingness to work with me on my first solo CD. Darko is a wonderful, talented, spirit-filled person. I know this project is moving forward in the power of the Lord.Two of my favorite songs on this CD are "Come to the River" and "I Don't Want to Go". Come to the River refers to Jesus as the Living Water. Here, we find peace, healing and freedom! The woman at the well encountered Jesus in this way. She never will thirst again. I Don't Want to Go is a personal cry to be found only where God is going and doing. If we are going places and doing things that are not where God wants us, we are living a lie and not contributing to His eternal purposes. We are always safe if we are in His will.The over-all message of my CD is that we can find hope, healing, freedom, and peace in Christ. It is my prayer that this music will ...
