Saxon - The Saxon Chronicles DVD

 This is a must have.
OK to the the reviewer from Hallandale Beach, Fl, USA. You are out of your mind. I bought the PAL version direct from England a few months ago and got this just so I have a back up. The live footage is great and it sounds fine on my system. Maybe you should upgrade your system. All real Saxon fans will treasure this as part of thier collection and must not hesitate to get this. So go get yours today! Its packed with great stuff.

 Saxon Do Not Dissapoint With This DVD
Long awaited dvd from classic heavy metal pioneers is great.Good interviews,lost footage,and great concert.Whoever hasn't seen this band live must do so,if you aren't ever able to see them live,this dvd captures them accurately,really personal.

 Excellent Packaging, Bad Concert Sound Quality!
I just received The Saxon Chronicles today and after watching the 2-dvd set I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. The first disc contains the 97 minute Saxon "W:O:A: Concert 2001". The problem is that the guitars overpower vocalist Biff Byford, leaving one with a feeling that your listening to the concert from the last row seats. His voice is mostly echoed! Too bad because Saxon puts on a great show playing early 80's classics such as "Motorcycle Man", "Denim & Leather", "Crusader", "Princess Of The Night", etc. Also, Saxon includes a few 90's songs such as "Solid Ball Of Rock", "Cut Out The Disease" and "Metal Head". Disc One also includes an interesting interview with Biff which is a nice addition to "The Saxon Chronicles". Disc Two, starts with some off stage footage of various members of Saxon, then you get three songs ("747(Strangers In The Night)", "Princess Of The Night" and "Wheels Of Steel". Unfortunately, the songs are in mono and the concert picture quality is average at best. There are also eight Saxon videos starting with early 80's "Suzy Hold On" to late 90's "Killing Ground". Note: The early Saxon videos are transferred from video tapes and are of inferior picture quality. Disc Two also has a television appearance and more interviews plus more stuff. The packaging of "The Saxon Chronicles is excellent with both dvd's housed in a high quality booklike container which includes a 25 page booklet with colorful photos and interesting info. on Saxon. Unfortunately, it all looks better than it really is. A better Saxon dvd would be "Classic Rock Legends - Saxon" which was excellent.

 Good First Disc, Second Disc Is Below Average!
I recently bought Saxon - The Saxon Chronicles because I own almost every Saxon cd & dvd available. I must admit the first disc was excellent but the vocals could have been more upfront. A good recording but not as good as I had hoped for. The second disc contains a bunch of concerts obviously transferred from some bootleg videos and some muisc videos, also poor quality. The 2 disc set is good but as I said before I'd hoped for alot better. Pick up the import Saxon dvd Classic Rock Legends which includes was recorded in 1989 and is a better buy.

 This DVD rocks!!!
The Hallandale Beach FL reviewer is crazy. This DVD rocks! What DVD is this person watching? I have to say that the concert footage on disc 1 and the first part of disc 2 are the best parts of this collection by far. I am kind of surprised that they did not play any material from “Killing Ground”, which was their latest release at the time of the concert on disc 1. They added some songs which I have not heard live for years like “Motorcycle Man”, “Heavy Metal Thunder”, “Strong Arm of the Law” & “20,000 Feet”. These songs sound great with this lineup. This is a must have for all Saxon fans!!!
