The British punk rock band Conflict's second compilation of the best of its anarchist anthems includes the blistering "How May More Lies," the furious "The Ungovernable Farce," and the confrontational "These Colours Don't Run," all given the band's characteristically intense delivery.
British anarcho-punk took the political posturing the Sex Pistols used as window dressing and made it the main focus of their existence. Among the most important of the genre's practitioners, Conflict made their U.S. recorded debut with the compilation album EMPLOYING ALL MEANS NECESSARY. The collection is an excellent introduction to the band's uncompromising, highly political hardcore. Conflict standards like the animal rights anthem "Tough Shit Mickey" and raw punk blast "From Protest to Resistance" are represented, and considering the band's long career, this is as good a start as it gets.
UK compilation for the well known anarchist punk band shows them at their most powerful best. This special edition digipak includes an interview with frontman Colin Jerwood recorded in 2003 & an enhanced track featuring rare live video footage of 'From Protest To Resistance' filmed at Fender's Ballroom, Long Beach, CA, August 1985. 18 tracks. Employing All Means Necessary! album
$11.18 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove album, a record that maintains a smooth seductive vibe so thoroughly it spills into a one-man band cover of "Crossroads." Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, creating a coolly clean blend of synths and Strats, one that's as much about texture as it is ...

Employing All Means Necessary! CD music
$19.34 It's a commonly held opinion among fans and band alike that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' lone live album, 1986's Pack Up the Plantation, didn't quite capture the group at its peak, so there has been a long-standing need for another live set, which 2009's Live Anthology finally provides. Like its closest cousin, Bruce Springsteen's Live 1975-1985, Live Anthology almost overcompensates for the long wait by offering almost too much ...

Employing All Means Necessary! songs
$11.18 Lou Reed never struck anyone as one of the happiest guys in rock & roll, so some fans were taken aback when his 1984 album New Sensations kicked off with "I Love You, Suzanne," a catchy up-tempo rocker that sounded a lot like a pop tune. After reaffirming his status as one of rock's greatest poets with The Blue Mask and Legendary Hearts, what was Reed doing here? Lou was having a great time, and his pleasure was infectious -- New Sensations is a set of straight-ahead rock & roll that ranks with the most purely enjoyable albums of Lou's career. Reed opted ...

| | Red Hill City This Time Next Year CD (2008)
Employing All Means Necessary! CD music
$17.69 Jackson, MS - Apollo Music Group recording artists, Red Hill City, release their new CD ‘This Time Next Year’, which contains 11 original songs in the Alternative Rock music genre and range from soothing acoustic harmonies to driving rock. One cut, Fondren District, is about a relationship that ends on the streets of the historical, cultural district in Jackson by that name where art thrives. The title track, the folksy ‘This Time Next Year’, offers soothing harmonies backed by acoustic melodies and presents an entertaining throw-back to the flower children of the ‘70s and the healing power of time. The driving beat of ‘The Engineers’ explodes with riffs reminiscent of a sci-fi world, while the melodious ‘Belfry’ tells the story of star-crossed lovers who declare their forbidden love from a belfry tower to their families in the churchyard below. ‘Bottled Bliss’ is a haunting call to save the world from the fabricated excesses of consumerism. ‘And We Will Turn to Ashes’ contrasts the duality of the struggles of everyday life and faith in the hereafter with a soliloquy of melodious harmonies replaced by driving rock riffs of reality. Other tracks included on the CD are ‘Caster Car, “June 2nd’, ‘Sunrise Coming’ and ‘Bird’s Eye View of an Autumn Fairground’. All in all, the CD showcases the band’s versatility, depth and artistry with the unbelievable musical talent of these five performers. Tyler King’s vocals are mesmerizing. They are definitely a band to watch and one whose performance will remind you of why you love music. It takes us places we have all been and provides an artistic salve for the pains and joys of life. Red Hill City formed in the latter months of 2004 when Tyler King (vocals and guitar), Josh Myers (drums) and Ben McCain (keyboard) decided to step away from their earlier punk rock roots and venture into a more alternative/modern rock sound. With the addition of Joseph Regan on guitar and Gant O'Brien on bass in early 2005 they found that a broad range of musical influences and experimental sounds would catapult their new concepts to another level. Red Hill City released their debut CD "Ill Attempts" in 2006. While it served as an outlet to the young groups’ newly found vision, it did not satisfy their experimental aspirations. Work on their latest CD ‘This Time Next Year’ began in the Spring of 2007. It was during this project that they were able to begin designing and crafting their new sound. The album was tracked and mixed at Cool Water Studio with Dan Helmintoller and mastered with Bob Katz. Artwork for the CD was created by Clay ...
