WILDWOOD FLOWER won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album. "Keep On The Sunny Side" won for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. "Temptation" was nominated for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals.
Released shortly after June Carter Cash's death in 2003, WILDWOOD FLOWER features the country music legend's most personal, intimate music. Recorded with relatives ranging from her cousins Janet and Joe Carter (the children of A.P. and Sara Carter) to granddaughter Tiffany Anastasia Lowe (the daughter of Carlene Carter and Nick Lowe) to, of course, her husband Johnny Cash, these 13 songs have the casual, almost spontaneous quality of a family sing-along. This feeling is heightened by both the snatches of conversation between the tracks and the song selection itself, taken almost entirely from the A.P. Carter songbook. That feeling of direct lineage colors the entire record; not only are these among the finest and most archetypal country songs ever written, they're also, in a very real way, family heirlooms, no less so than a treasured photograph or piece of jewelry. As a result, listening to WILDWOOD FLOWER is akin to being present at a particularly intimate, heartwarming family gathering.
Recorded at The Carter Family Estate, Maces Spring, Virgina; June & Johnny's Bedroom and Cash Cabin Studio, Hendersonville, Tennessee. Includes liner notes by Rosanne Cash.

This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.Rolling Stone (9/18/03, p.70) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...Fittingly, she says goodbye with a lovely bouquet of songs....The album's pristine, spare sound emphasizes Norman Blake's masterful picking, daughter-in-law Laura Cash's haunting fiddle and June's signature autoharp strum..." Entertainment Weekly (9/12/03, p.152) - "...There's palpable joy in the way she and her supporting cast...breath life into these age-old country-folk songs, as if they're tugging at rapture and saness at the same time....As a posthumous release, it's almost too poignant to bear." - Rating A- Uncut (1/04, p.108) - 4 stars out of 5 - "WILDWOOD FLOWER is raw and achingly human." Dirty Linen (12/03, p.52) - "...WILDWOOD FLOWER serves as a poignant and beautiful coda to her fascinating musical life..." Mojo (Publisher) (12/03, p.108) - 5 stars out of 5 - "Humble, home-spun, deeply warm and honest, this record comes from a place where the idea of music as business simply doesn't exist." June Carter Wildwood Flower Songs Wildwood Flower Music Review Average Rating: (3.7 out of 5 stars) june carter, one of the greats I enjoy her talents. Unfortunately, this CD was not a collection of her best. It was a redo of her best with a weak, old woman's voice... Submitted by umpquaprinting (roseburg, oregon) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
miss family I wish we could turn back time. I miss Helen, and seeing her son Danny most of all. I'm also very heart broken about Rosie's death. I pray that the existing family of the Carters and Cashes have lot's of joy love and peace in their life.

June Carter Cash leaves a fitting legacy I was expecting a lot from this album when I popped it into my CD player and I was not disappointed. Wildwood Flower, June Carter Cash’s last studio album could quite easily be her very best as it contains some of the finest from the Carter Family catalog. From the first track “Keep on the Sunny Side”, the folk classic until “Wildwood Flower” the CD keeps your interest with June’s beautiful voice which is unlike no one else. The song “Will You Miss Me When I’m Gone” is especially poignant considering it was her “farewell.” Her husband Johnny Cash is on most of the songs, and her daughter, Roseanne wrote the liner notes which are a beautiful eulogy to her mother. Also on the enhanced CD is her last recording session and a tour of the Carter estate by June. Wildwood Flower is a wonderful album that reminds us what a great artist she was and how sorely she will be missed. Submitted by a reviewer (nashville, tn) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | June Carter Live Recordings From The Louisiana Hayride CD (2003)
Wildwood Flower
$12.59 By the time of her death in 2003, June Carter was perhaps best known as the wife of Johnny Cash, as his sometime duet partner and as his constant anchor during their 35-year marriage. Blessed with royal country lineage (her mother was Maybelle Carter of the legendary Carter Family), June possessed only a moderate voice and range, but made up for it with boundless on-stage energy and a fine comedic sense. Louisiana Hayride collects some of her appearances on the venerable radio show of the same name, which was broadcast through the South in the 1950s and 1960s on KWKH out of Shreveport, LA. The first nine tracks here are drawn from her debut appearance on the Hayride in 1960, and they perfectly illustrate her ...

| | Trace Adkins Big Time CD (1997)
Wildwood Flower
$5.15 On BIG TIME, Trace Adkins' mellow drawl and down-home sensibilities permeate most every track. Conservative and friendly, Adkins gives off a good ol' boy playfulness while occasionally tugging at the proverbial heart strings. The standard themes of love won and lost and having a good ol' time are in plentiful supply, but Adkins avoids the cliches which tend to undermine most of the new young country crowd. It is clear that he holds country tradition in high regard while keeping his sound completely contemporary.

$12.69 My family came to Oregon with some of the earliest of the pioneers, traveling overland and arriving to homestead near Alpine in 1844; Jacob and Hannah Hammer were Quakers and the first of my relatives to arrive in Oregon. Jacob was a fine coffin builder who also served as justice of the peace, while Hannah kept the house and preached to the local Calapooia Indians. For the next 120 years my ancestors made their living off of the land, working as loggers, mill workers, or farmers. When I came along, the love and respect of Oregon’s natural wonders was deeply ingrained and I spent many hours following the family path, hunting, fishing, and trapping wildlife; gardening, and harvesting; canning and pickling, were all part of the self-sufficiency that was so important to my parents. I’m thankful ...
