John Valby albums are so hard to tell apart because they're usually live and if you've bought more than one you're not doubt overlapping some of his popular tunes ("Eat Bite" or "Ya Ya," for example). American Troubadour is at least unique in that a wealth of the material is drawn from Valby's hatred of Osama Bin Laden and his followers. Well maybe not just his followers, but anyone who lives in Afghanistan, or Iran, or Iraq, and so on. Doubtful anyone has ever mistaken the foul-mouthed piano player for Pete Seeger (or for that matter, a humanist), but you've got to marvel at how Valby can string together so many hateful words and his boogie-woogie piano playing is still strong.
