Derived from a pair of concerts at the Berkeley, CA. Community Theater on May 30, 1970, the film has always been a curious chapter in the history of Jimi Hendrix. Shot more as a test than a true documentary, it was hurriedly whipped together as an official film shortly after Hendrix' death. Featured are performances by Jimi, bassist Billy Cox and drummer Mitch Mitchell, including lots of Hendrix favorites. As an audio-only bonus, the entire second set from that evening is here in 5.1 surround sound. This rousing world-famous concert is regarded by critics to be one of Jimi Hendrix's finest performances ever. Taking footage from two separate performances at the Berkeley Community Theater on May 30th, 1970, these incendiary shows help illustrate the student uprisings in Berkeley, by setting footage to the stunning backdrop of some awe-inspiring Hendrix material. Tracks include "Purple Haze," "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)," "Star Spangled Banner," "Hey Joe," and many others. This is a never-to-be-forgotten musical experience you will enjoy over and over again. Filmed May 30, 1970 at the Berkeley Community Center, California.

$8.65 While the title track is the album's best-known song, SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH proved to be another in a long line of 100% filler-free records from Ozzy and co. Highlights included the creepy "Who Are You?," plus the Tony Iommi riff-mongers "A National Acrobat," "Killing Yourself to Live," and "Sabra Cadabra," a song that Metallica would cover on its 1998 release GARAGE INC. You'll also find one of Sabbath's most haunting yet serene instrumentals, "Fluff," as well as the melodic album-closing rocker, "Spiral Architect." SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH is quintessential heavy metal.

| | Jimi Hendrix -Live At The Fillmore East DVD (1970)
Jimi Plays Berkeley review
$10.09 Following the dissolution of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the legendary guitarist formed the Band of Gypsys with bassist Billy Cox, whom Hendrix met in the army, and drummer Buddy Miles. They ushered the 1960s into the 1970s in two evenings of concerts at the Fillmore East on December 31, 1969 and January 1, 1970. This production presents color and black-and-white footage of those nights. The freewheeling bluesy sound of the Band of Gypsys is captured on such tracks as "Machine Gun" and "Message of Love." Also included are interviews with Hendrix's bandmates, footage of Jimi on the Dick Cavett Show, and interviews with rock dignitaries such as Lenny Kravitz, Slash, and Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell, who expound on Hendrix's contributions to popular music. Sadly, ...

$22.75 Very few Led Zeppelin performances were caught on camera during the band's life-span, but the footage that has been preserved for posterity is collected on this release. With a running time of over five-and-a-half hours, this is the definitive word on Zep's global stage-straddling performances. The footage is taken from London's Royal Albert Hall in January 1970, London's Earls Court in May 1975, Knebworth in August 1979, and Madison Square Garden in July 1973. Guitarist Jimmy Page has taken great care to restore, remix, and remaster the sound from these shows, providing a visual and sonic assault that offers indisputable ...

Jimi Plays Berkeley video
$9.45 Recorded live at the Berkeley Community Theatre, Berkeley, California on May 30, 1970. Includes liner notes by John McDermott.
While there's certainly no shortage of posthumous Jimi Hendrix concert recordings running the gamut in terms of quality, this one is something special. It captures Hendrix in a period of transition. He was ready to start a new chapter, having no way of knowing he'd be dead in a matter of months. After his Band of Gypsys phase, he had decided to reunite the original Experience, but bassist Noel Redding declined, perhaps convinced that his band, Fat Mattress, was bound for glory. Consequently, the visceral R&B of the Gypsys mixed with the fluid open-endedness of the Experience through the combination of Mitch Mitchell and drummer Billy Cox.
On this night in Berkeley in 1970, the trio was on fire, roaring through "old" chestnuts ("Hey Joe," "Purple Haze") invested with new life, and pushing the boundaries with works-in-progress (embryonic versions of what would become "Straight Ahead" and "New Rising Sun"). ...

Jimi Plays Berkeley film
$10.55 Nine o'clock on Monday morning, August 18, 1969: while the work force was starting the day, Jimi Hendrix was taking the stage at Woodstock. While hundreds of thousands had already left, 25,000 people remained to see this incredible performance. Hendrix, along with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox, offered masterly renditions of the songs of the recently disbanded Experience ("Hey Joe," "Foxey Lady"), and gave a preview of the blues-based Band of Gypsys ("Izabella," "Hear My Train A Comin'"), as well as Jimi's era-defining rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner." Though the weekend had witnessed some landmark performances by other great artists, this performance from Hendrix is ...
