All About Love album
$11.18 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove album, a record that maintains a smooth seductive vibe so thoroughly it spills into a one-man band cover of "Crossroads." Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, creating a coolly clean blend of synths and Strats, one that's as much about texture as it is about ...

All About Love CD music
$19.34 It's a commonly held opinion among fans and band alike that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' lone live album, 1986's Pack Up the Plantation, didn't quite capture the group at its peak, so there has been a long-standing need for another live set, which 2009's Live Anthology finally provides. Like its closest cousin, Bruce Springsteen's Live 1975-1985, Live Anthology almost overcompensates for the long ...

All About Love songs
$17.45 In 1999, mail-order company Collectors' Choice Music licensed from Sony Music the two-disc/tape, 36-track The Best of Kay Kyser & His Orchestra, the most extensive compilation of Kyser's recordings ever released and, with prices upon release of about $25 for the CDs and $20 for the tapes, at a reasonable cost. Though Kyser led one of the ten most successful swing bands of the 1940s, his sweet, comedic approach brought him less respect and far fewer reissues than bandleaders who played in the more jazz-oriented, hot style. This chronologically sequenced ...

| | Flamin Groovies Slow Death CD (2002)
All About Love CD music
$12.59 Trying to collect the Flamin' Groovies can make you crazy. There are so many releases outside of their handful of official releases that it is hard to know which of the bootlegs, live shows, and demos you should get. Well, you definitely need this one. It focuses on the years after original wildman singer Roy Loney left the group and before the legendary Shake Some Action LP was released (October 1971 to July 1973, to be precise). The first six songs are self-recorded demos from 1971 and have been released a few times before, most notably as Grease on the Dog Meat label, but this is the first issue authorized by the band. In fact, guitarist and main Groovie Cyril Jordan contributes some amazing liner notes, which trace his Zelig-like adventures through the history of rock. From shopping for threads with Cornell Gunther, singer of the Coasters, to scoring acid for Jimi Hendrix, to hanging out for a couple of days at Brian Wilson's pad in the late '70s, Jordan had quite a blast. The first six tracks are quite a blast too -- lo-fi, angry, and raw: the epic "Slow Death" with Chris Wilson's howling vocals, the headlong dash through "Jumping Jack Flash," and the stick-in-your-ear sentiment of "Let Me Rock." The Groovies are the very definition of proto-punk. Plus, the sound is much improved from any ...
