Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer album for sale Product Description

Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer album for sale by Donna Summer was released Sep 30, 2003 on the UTV label. Initial pressings of THE JOURNEY included a bonus CD featuring 12" remixes. As one of the few performers from the disco era to have a career beyond one-hit wonder status, Donna Summer has continued forward on her creative path well into the 1990s, necessitating the release of the two-disc THE JOURNEY: THE VERY BEST OF DONNA SUMMER. Summer neophytes will get their share of this diva's classic '70s fare including soft-core anthems ("Love to Love You Baby"), streetwalker tributes ("Bad Girls"), erstwhile Jimmy Webb covers ("Macarthur Park") and songs that became ubiquitously associated with proms and weddings ("Last Dance"). Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer CD music contains a single disc with 25 songs.   ...See Full Description

Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer CD music The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should be danced to with a smile on your face. Each track offers at least one musical hook, whether it is the beauty of 'Human Nature' (who can resist the 'dada dada da da da') or the 'whoo whoo' of 'Billie Jean'. It's all too good. Principally recorded at Westlake Audio, Los Angeles, California. Additional Tracks Personnel: Vincent Price (rap vocals, spoken vocals); Steve Lukather (guitar, electric bass); Dean Parks, Eddie Van Halen, Paul Jackson, Jr. , David E. Williams (guitar); Larry Andrew Williams (flute, saxophone); Gary Grant, Jerry Hey (trumpet, flugelhorn); William Frank "Bill" Reichenbach Jr. (trombone); David Paich (piano, synthesizer); Greg Phillinganes (Fender Rhodes piano, keyboards, synthesizer, hand claps); Bill Wolfer (keyboards, synthesizer); Tom Bahler (keyboards, Synclavier); Michael Boddicker (synthesizer, vocoder); Greg "Frosty" Smith, Rod Temperton, Steve Porcaro, David Foster, Brian Banks (synthesizer); Jeff Porcaro, Leon "Ndugu" Chancler (drums); James Ingram (hand claps, background vocals); Louis Johnson, Steven Ray (hand claps); Paulinho Da Costa (percussion); Becky Lopez, Howard Hewett, Janet Jackson, Julia Waters, La Toya Jackson, Maxine Willard Waters, Oren Waters, Bunny Hull (background vocals). Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer songs Initial pressings of this first edition contain a bonus disc. Recorded between 1970 & 2002. Includes liner notes by Paul Gambaccini. Greatest Hits 1970-2002 is a nearly flawless double-disc set commemorating Elton John's three-decade career. Disc one features what may arguably be John's most essential work: Seeing songs such as "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," "Candle in the Wind," and "Bennie and the Jets" -- not to mention "Your Song," "Rocket Man," and "Tiny Dancer" -- lined up back to back reaffirms just how diverse, and yet universal, his songwriting talent is. Disc two finds this talent maturing gracefully into the '80s, '90s, and beyond, touching on pop gems like "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," "I'm Still Standing," and "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" as well as his Lion King classic "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" and the Aida duet "Written in the Stars" with LeAnn Rimes. The collection also finds room for the highlights of his most recent albums, including Made in England's "Believe" and "Blessed," The Big Picture's "Something About the Way You Look Tonight," and Songs from the West Coast's "This Train Don't Stop Here Anymore." For most casual fans, Greatest Hits 1970-2002 will replace the need for collections such as Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits, Vol. 2, and Greatest Hits, Vol. 3, although these collections are still worthwhile as of-their-time retrospectives of John's work. ~ Heather Phares All tracks have been digitally remastered.

Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer album for sale '80s Pop Hits is a three-disc set from Sony with a heavy emphasis on ballads, many of which continue to be played on adult contemporary radio stations across the U.S. The relatively upbeat material -- like Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," Toto's "Rosanna," Luther Vandross' "Stop for Love," and Deniece Williams' "Let's Hear It for the Boy" -- tends to be safe enough for waiting-room listening. But it is definitely the slow, soft material (joined by a few power ballads) that takes center-stage: Surface's "Shower Me with Your Love," Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's "All Cried Out," and Gregory Abbott's "Shake You Down" are some of the inclusions. ~ Andy Kellman 3cds-Cheap Trick/Cyndi Lauper/ Bonnie Tyler/Reo Speedwagon

Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer buy CD music Recorded between 1964 & 1981. Includes liner notes by Brian Chin. Though not as critically revered as label-mates Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder, the Supremes were the most popular Motown act of the 1960s. Not only did the group rack up a string of #1 singles, that, in terms of frequency and quality often rivaled that of the Beatles, they were one of the first black combos in America to truly achieve mainstream white acceptance. In many ways, the Supremes' music represented the Motown sound distilled to its essence; Hitsville USA's throbbing bass, relentlessly danceable drum beats, and ingenious arrangements were never so purely and perfectly geared for maximum pop appeal as on early hits such as "Where Did Our Love Go" and "Stop! In the Name of Love." On later, edgier tracks, like "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "Love Child," the Supremes managed to adapt to the changing times without losing fans. Of course, even the Supremes' massive success couldn't match the superstar status garnered by their lead singer Diana Ross, with her definitive pop-soul classics such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Endless Love." THE #1'S comes as advertised, collecting all of the Diana Ross and the Supremes chart-toppers and delivering them with excellent sound and eye-pleasing packaging. Diana Ross & The Supremes made history: an unprecedented five No. 1 hits in a row, 12 in total in the Sixties. In the Seventies, the group and Miss Ross went their separate ways. The Supremes, with Jean Terrell in the lead, hit No. 1 with Stoned Love. Diana Ross claimed the top spot as a solo artist on various charts nine more times on Motown. In fact, Miss Ross has sung lead on 18 No. 1 Pop hits, second only to The Beatles at 20. The Guinness Book of World Records has also recognized Diana as the most successful female artist of all time, with more than 70 hit singles to date. This new collection of No. 1's covers the full range of Motown excitement, 24 songs spotlighting two of the most influential stars of two decades: Diana Ross and The Supremes! `Diana Ross & The Supremes: The No. 1's' features newly mastered mixes of the classic Supremes hits, direct from the Motown session tapes, for the best fidelity in any Supremes and/or Diana Ross collection ever! Producers include: Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, Frank Wilson, Nickolas Ashford, Valerie Simpson. Compilation producers: Harry Weinger, Andrew Skurow, Jeff Moskow. Personnel: Jean Terrell, Johnny Bristol (vocals). Audio Mixer: Suha Gur. Audio Remixer: Almighty Associates. Liner Note Author: Brian Chin . Recording information: Unit Four Productions, London, England. Editor: Suha Gur. Arrangers: David Blumberg; Gene Page; Clay Drayton; Lee Holdridge ; Michael Masser; Paul Riser; Tom Baird; Wade Marcus; David Van De Pitte. The Supremes: Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard, Cindy Birdsong, Jean Terrell (vocals). Additional personnel: Lionel Richie, The Temptations (vocals); Nile Rodgers (guitar); Bernard Edwards (bass); Tony Thompson (drums); Johnny Bristol (background vocals).
