In ye olde days of the 1980s, true metalheads hoping to catch videos of their favorite bands had to stay up late for the original HEADBANGERS BALL, MTV's bastion of all things long-haired, leather-clad, and too heavy for the network's regular rotation. In the new millennium, when extreme metal of every sort reached the mainstream on a weekly basis, the faithful ironically still turned to HEADBANGERS BALL, this time on MTV's music-intensive--and, oddly enough, less popular--sister network MTV2.
As the title suggests, MTV2 HEADBANGERS BALL collects the program's best moments, which range from the chart topping alt-rock metal of Staind (here represented by "Price to Play," the first single from 12 SHADES OF GREY) to lesser known, far more demanding fare such as Unearth's pile-driving "Endless." The two-disc set even gives a nod to a few of metal's most influential pioneers, Anthrax and Slayer (the latter contributes an absolutely ferocious live version of the classic speed metal anthem "Raining Blood"), acknowledging both the roots of the genre and the artists that made the original HEADBANGERS BALL so compelling.

decent hardcore mix i bought the CD at best buy for 13.99 and have not been disappointed. disc 1 starts off strong with godsmack hatebreed and staind, while disc 2 contains lesser known bands such as 36 crazyfists and demon hunter. in my opinion the best songs on the set are: world so cold, pride, safe home, cloud connected, down again, at the end of august, infected, and down; it is easy for any rock/metal/hardcore fan to find something to like on here Submitted by choKeonapopsicle (Youngstown, OH) Was This Review Helpful? FINALLY something for all Metal Fans!! The new Headbangers Ball is a very good show, and this CD certainly shows the style of music they're spotlighting on there. DISC one is more of the Metal I think is for the Metal Fan with more of a radio Ear (if you know what I mean). But all of those sopngs on Disc one are very good and worthy a Metal fans listening. DISC 2 to me is where the METAL HITS THE ROAD!! is showcases more underground metal that straight up kicks ass. I highly reccomend this CD to anyone who thinks they are a metal fan ro is interested in hearing some of the better songs from the BANDS on here!!... AS for me I bought it for my 12yr old son to TURN him on to real music and keep him turned away from all this S%@T on the radio!! HORNS UP!!!!! $13.29 Tonight, in the venerable NYC cabaret Dillon’s Lounge, all eyes (and ears) are focused on singer Jeffrey Wilgus. It is much more than his wonderful baritone—alternately sensitive, soaring, and soulful—that draws everyone in: he simply has them wrapped around his finger. A pure natural on stage, Jeffrey chats easily between songs, taking the audience on a journey that includes everything from bawdy stories to heartfelt confessions: in short, a rollercoaster ride of emotions. It’s no surprise, then, that most everyone in the audience has the feeling that they are not only listening to a great singer—but are being entertained by a true stage presence. From Early Influences—to singing in "The city by the Bay"Growing up in Pennsauken, NJ, Jeffrey was exposed to music at an early age. On Saturday mornings, his mom would place a stack of records in the player and they’d go all day long—from John Denver and Billy Joel to The Carpenters and Tommy Dorsey, and (this being New Jersey), Sinatra. He began singing as much as possible—from choral groups to school and community theater musicals, including roles in Guys and Dolls, Grease, How to Succeed in Business and Little Shop of Horrors—and credits his public school education for fueling a lifelong love of music and theater. After college, Jeffrey moved from Philadelphia to San Francisco, a move that changed his life. “The city opened many doors for me,” Jeffrey fondly recalls, ...
