This release includes a bonus DVD featuring behind-the-scenes footage and a live performance filmed at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Despite changing personnel for the second consecutive album, Static-X has successfully continued down the path of hard-charging industrial rock on their third album, SHADOW ZONE. In an odd move, drummer Nick Oshiro is named in the liner notes as the departed Ken Jay's replacement despite the fact that A Perfect Circle's Josh Freese was responsible for all the drumming on this outing. Regardless of who was bashing skins, Static-X has clung to their formula of jackhammer tempos, lead-pipe riffs and pounding time-keeping on songs like "Destroy All," the title cut, and "Kill Your Idols." Of course, Wayne Static, the singer that looks like the guy in the Slim Jim commercials, maintains his position front and center, and although he still howls through numbers like "Otsegolectric" and "Monster," he's also managed to harness his aggression on more melodic fare like "The Only" and "So." Concerns by diehard fans over personnel changes that might affect Static-X's overall sound end up being for naught, as SHADOW ZONE succeeds in showcasing the band's more progressive direction.
Static-X’s platinum debut, Wisconsin Death Trip, and follow-up Machine, firmly cemented the band’s status as hard-rock heroes. Now the group’s third album, Shadow Zone, reveals the next step in the evolution of Static-X—a teaming with producer Josh Abraham (Staind, Limp Bizkit, Unwritten Law). Leaner, more refined, but just as bone-crunching as ever, Static-X catapults metal into the Shadow Zone. The CD+DVD edition features 30 to 60 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage plus a live performance filmed at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas in August.
Additional personnel includes: Ken Jay (keyboards); Josh Freese (drums).
Recorded in Los Angeles, California.
Static-X: Wayne Static (vocals, guitar, keyboards, programming); Tripp Rex Eisen (guitar); Tony Campos (bass, background vocals); Nick Oshiro (drums).

This is an album at a crossroads This boils down, really is Korn the culprit behind the nu metal genre? This album has me wonderin about that question, vocally. It's not a total failure like their follow-up wounds up to be. It just has me wonderin why I stopped making Static and the gang rich after the first two records came out burnin the charts. This was the peak of their momentum. Period. Nuff said! Submitted by orangegreendesolate (Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Alright... I've heard better I like this cd but it's not great it's alright and I would not go as far to call Wayne Static a musical genious (Trent Reznor beats him with a lead bat) I like All in Wait So Invicible The Only and Destroy all. Transmission is an absultly pointless instrumtental which could have been alot better then it already is. I will give this a 3.5. Buy a children of Bodom album alot better there are actually more then one guitar solo Submitted by Metalfreak (C,b,m) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Growth Every fan of heavier music should own some Static X. Wayne Static is an unknown musical genious, who keeps maturing and progressing with each album. Everyone rants about Trent Rezner being a musical genious (who I think is way over rated) and Wayne Static is going to basically slip though the cracks and not be as appreciated. It is a shame. Shadow Zone CD music
$9.99 The follow-up to Static-X's 1999 debut WISCONSIN DEATH TRIP finds the hard-hitting quartet continuing down the same industrial-flavored path of jackhammer tempi, leaden guitar crunch and crashing rhythms. Despite the amicable departure of guitarist Koichi Fukuda, former Dope axe- wielder Tripp Eisen does a fine job fitting in alongside founding members Wayne Static, Keny Jay, and Tony Campos. Working on the gloom and doom side of the tracks, Static-X keep things interesting with the kind of controlled chaos that makes for an interesting exercise in manipulating dynamics.
This studio experimentation encompasses everything from an ...

| | Sevendust Seasons CD (2003) Bonus DVD
Shadow Zone songs
$14.45 Sevendust have toiled away for years, recording and touring as underdog soldiers while lesser hard-rock acts have achieved success with luck as opposed to raw talent. The Atlanta quintet's fourth studio release finds the band grooving harder, with less focus on machine-gun-syncopation and grinding, chugging riffs (a trademark of their earlier works).
SEASONS is arguably the band's crossover album, boasting huge choruses with killer hooks. Songwriting/producing guru Butch Walker (formerly of the Marvelous 3) has lent his magic touch to up-and-comers Injected and Bowling for Soup (the latter resulting in a Grammy nomination for "Girl All the Bad Guys Want"), and now ...

$32.39 Fourteen tracks from Julius Lester's two Vanguard albums, 1965's Julius Lester and 1967's Departures, were compiled onto this single-disc CD anthology. In fact, considering that it adds up to 71 minutes and that those two Vanguard LPs were the only albums he made, this is pretty much a summation of Lester's legacy as a recording artist. While the topical thrust of his acoustic guitar ...
