This DVD features 19 of Devo's groundbreaking music videos, with 3 never-before-seen clips from early Devo Gigs, a comprehensive history of the band through photos, memorabilia and anecdotes. Commentaries by Gerald V. Casale and Mark Mothersbaugh and an interview with music director/producer Chuck Slater. Devo were a seminal new wave band who, thanks to heavy rotation for their "Whip It" video on MTV, almost crept into the national consciousness in the 1980s. Their quirky, poly-rhythmic tunes always had a strong pop edge to them, and their wacky videos won them plenty of plaudits from fans and critics alike. Band leader Mark Mothersbaugh has subsequently carved out quite a career for himself scoring movie soundtracks, contributing scores for an eclectic array of films and television shows, including RUGRATS and RUSHMORE. This comprehensive retrospective on their video work offers the definitive word on the dada-ist rockers, featuring various extras, and videos for "Whip It," "Love Without Anger," "Disco Dancer," and "Worried Man" amongst many others. Devo - The Complete Truth About De-Evolution Reviews: "[T]he clips are full of goofy energy and catchy tunes."

Devo - The Complete Truth About De-Evolution Movie Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) D.V.D. OH! At last the wait is over - Devo videos transfer to DVD. A quality release brimming with a host of extras, which should satisfy all but the pickiest of fans. The overall quality of the videos is good, bearing in mind that some of these date back to the late 70's and early 80's.
In terms of video selection, this fairly comprehensively follows Devo's career from early days right up to 'Post Post-Modern Man'. This is a great opportunity for those new to the band to catch up on and explore the innovative, quirky, and at times bizarrely unsettling Devo vision.
There are also plenty of extras for those already familiar with the band to get to grips with. I particularly enjoyed the early footage section, the saga of the 'Golf Ball' artwork, and the extra video for Mongoloid (not the Spud-Boys!).
All in all, a cracking release. I do note however, that some videos and footage from the 'Men Who Make The Music' and 'We're All Devo' VHS videos has not been included. So when can we expect volume 2? Submitted by jonathanfinch (Bristol, U. K.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The Complete Truth This DVD is most Excellent. A combination of fascinating music and visual mind candy. The commentary section is also extremely interesting. Devo was clearly Eons ahead of their time. Submitted by gabelewi (Davis California USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Devo is da bomb Truly a fantastic DVD. I love the way the boys hock Lazer Discs. Man I love these guys, however, the spud monkey kind of scares me. I'll put this DVD on and do some chores or maybe just chill in the music room and bop myself into a tizzy. Buy this DVD. Your collection is sorely incomplete without it.
