"Inhale" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. "Get Inside" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Stone Sour isn't the first successful Slipknot side project; the Murderdolls (just barely) beat them to the starting gate. Like that group, though, Stone Sour actually started out long before Slipknot, but was ultimately revisited as an alternative to the Slipknot grind. Knotmen (if you will) Corey Taylor and Jim Root and their Stone Sour brethren offer nu-metal that's fully as hard-hitting as that of their day-job group, but with considerably more thoughtful compositional techniques and melodic sensibility. Sure, Taylor occasionally breaks into a gut-wrenching scream, but just as often he's twisting his voice around a serpentine melodic line that brings Alice in Chains to mind more than anything in the nu-metal lexicon.
Includes a bonus DVD.

Stone Sour Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews THE Right Mix of it All! WOW! Being a metalhead/headbanger in my own definition all of my life (Maiden, Dio, Sabbath, etc.) I really never got into Slipknot. A bit too all over the place with just a bit too much screaming; although quality screaming. That was until I purchased Subliminal Verses because I knew Rick Rubin was involved and then I realized how talented Corey Taylor truly is! The man can sing, period. He can also scream with the very best and if you have ever listened to "Before I forget" then you will know how that song MAKES you bang away! Wow, what a great song that is the Slipknot I grew to appreciate, as well as Corey's voice. Then the research began. I have known other lead men go out and do incredible solo albums (ie. Bruce Dickinson) that frees them to do what they want. Well, Stone Sour for me is all the best aspects he (Taylor) can bring to the table with one of his guitar players, Jim Root. I also wanted to see what they looked like behind the masks!
This CD is just the right balance of everything.....solid riffs, melodies, singing, screaming, wicked double bass, powerful lyrics and just a well done piece of music. If you like what Corey sounds like on Before I Forget and Duality, then you must have this. Trust me it is PLENTY hard and shreds in many ways he can't make happen with Slipknot.
The bonus DVD is worth the extra money!!! 3 videos, all very well done ranging form a ballad where Cory ages before your eyes, to their opening track, Get Inside which is pure concert footage where they just rip it out!! Funny, because you can see familiar movements from him and Jim, just without the masks! Great stuff and this CD is one of the most impressive I have heard from beginning to end in a while-BUY IT NOW and enjoy!

WICKED AWESME! I was a little suspicious of the band at first because I am a HUGE Maggot(slipknot fan)and I love Corey Taylor(in a completely hetero way of course) and i wasnt sure if Stone Sour was going to even hold a candle to Slipknot. but what doubt I had was quickly put to rest after I heard the first song, the album can be described in whole in two words "Wicked Awesome" Submitted by deadwait401 (Lamar CO) Was This Review Helpful? Unbelievable First off, Corey Taylor has had enough said about him in his favor to write a book for. His work in slipknot only proves the anger, aggression, and despair he has screamed and sung for since 1999. After 2 years of not hearing from the man & band, I hear word that he and Jim Root are finally breaking away and doing a side project called "Stone Sour." I immediately pick it up the morning it comes out. Now, there's always one thing that I've learned from Corey Taylor, and that is that you can never, EVER figure out an album listening to certain songs, at certain times in a different order. So I took his advice and listened to the album in its entirety and found something different in the song writing, vocal approach, just over-all a bit more subtle. This album presents melody which has been something I have craved from Corey Taylor since his early days with the Knot. Let me tell you, this album presented the melody, virsitility, diversity, and dynamics I look for in any album I consider a "masterpiece." It goes from soft, emotionally spoken songs like "Bother," and "Monolith." To the absultely riffy, gut-wrenching songs like "Get Inside," "Tumult," and "Inside the Cynic." Every musician in this band knew exactly their place in the band, the right space to give each other, and this self-titled album is something worth listening to if you need a reality check on what life looks like behind the curtain. I take this album to heart, it might have taken me awhile, but...I finally get it. Submitted by danbychowski1987 (Island Lake, IL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Stone Sour album
$6.25 Brutal and hard but exciting and surprisingly melodic, DIRT made Alice In Chains national stars in 1992 after being around the Seattle alternative rock scene for many years. They produce a blindingly together sound, with the bass of Mike Starr able to switch between following the bass drum beat and cloning Jerry Cantrell's guitar note for note, albeit a few octaves lower. They have such polish that they are often reminiscent ...

Stone Sour CD music
$17.85 Featuring the band in their element - the live arena - this full-length live show is a stunning mix of visual mayhem and brutal, extreme heavy metal. No band around can top the Slipknot experience, with concussion bombs, flames, lasers, rotating drum risers and a whole lot more going on, you're simply not going to be able to take your eyes off the on-screen carnage. All of Slipknot's music videos are also presented, including the never-before-seen animated ...
| | Chimaira Impossibility Of Reason CD (2003)
Stone Sour music CDs
$14.25 On Chimaira's second full-length album, THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF REASON, the Midwestern nu-metal outfit charges out of the gate with an electrifying mix of brutally direct Sabbath-esque guitars, the scariest death metal howls this side of Morbid Angel, and double-kick-drum patterns so fast and clean they make Slipknot's drummer sound like the guy who played on "Louie Louie." Unlike many of its similarly hard-edged contemporaries, Chimaira features the added novelty of a full-time member who is credited with "lead electronics." Not simply a DJ, knob-twister Chris Spicuzza adds a distinctive palette of ambient noise to the proceedings, which in combination with the sonic mayhem spewed forth by the rest of the band, often makes for a uniquely disconcerting, yet strangely ...
| | Korn Greatest Hits Vol. 1 CD (2004)
Stone Sour songs
$9.59 GREATEST HITS VOL. 1 is a 17-track primer for Korn, a key force behind the "nu metal" tsunami that swept through pop music in the mid-to-late 1990s. Led by frontman (and former coroner's assistant) Jonathan Davis, these California natives weave low-tuned guitars, hip-hop-fueled bass lines, and bleak imagery into memorable songs like the bile-fueled stomp-fest "Right Now," goth-tinged "Alone I Break," and frenetically raw "Freak on a Leash."
Davis's struggle with family dysfunction is a consistent theme, from the band's self-titled 1994 debut (a foreboding "Clown"), right up through 2003's TAKE A LOOK IN THE MIRROR (an uber-heavy "Did My Time"). Korn also keeps pace with peers Marilyn Manson and Limp Bizkit (who both recorded unlikely covers) by adding a pair of new tracks--a faithful reading of Cameo's "Word Up!" and, in keeping with their anti-authoritarian bent, a slight tweaking of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall (Parts ...
| | Mudvayne Lost And Found CD (2005)
Stone Sour album
$8.99 Drummer Matt McDonough and bassist Ryan Martinie play as if they are the same person, tossing off impossibly complex lock-step riffs ("Determined," "Just") like most bands hit an open E chord. On "Happy?" and "Fall into Sleep," singer Chad Gray moves from a throat-shredding rasp to sweet melodicism at the drop of a hat, taking angst-filled lyrics to new heights of dark obsession. Luckily, despite the inherent negativity of Gray's words, the seemingly boundless energy and impressive musicianship of LOST AND FOUND make for an uplifting listening experience.
While some of its rap-metal contemporaries deserted the hip-hop half of the equation ...

Stone Sour CD music
$13.59 Ishiro Honda, director of the kaju eiga (giant monster) masterpiece GODZILLA, helms the unusual and comic DOGORA. Honda intended the film as a satire of the gangster and monster films that were extremely popular in Japan during the 1960s. Around the world, diamonds and coal are disappearing without a trace, much to the consternation of the authorities and detectives investigating the vanishings. A vast criminal conspiracy is suspected, ...

Looking at the state of metal from the standpoint of the early 21st century, it's hard to believe that the Long Island hardcore metal act Vision of Disorder didn't connect with a larger audience. Perhaps it was because they were together during a period when MTV/radio largely shunned hard rock/metal -- in the pre-Headbanger's Ball relaunch and Uranium landscape. Looking back upon their first two full-length releases, 1996's Vision of Disorder and 1998's Imprint (reissued as Roadrunner's on-going Two From the Vault series), it certainly wasn't the music that held them back. While it's their debut that is often considered their best by fans (which included such early favorites as "Element," "Through My Eyes," "D.T.O.," etc.), it was their sophomore effort that saw the quintet truly come into its own. While the majority of the album was an over-the-top assault on the senses ("What You Are," "By the River"), the album's closing track "Jada Bloom" showed that band also had an appreciation for melody as well. The Two From the Vault VOD edition only makes you wonder what could've been of this oft-overlooked band if they'd begun their recording career just a few years later. ~ Greg Prato

| | Pull My Finger Jingle Smells CD (2005) Enhanced CD
Stone Sour CD music
$4.45 Pull My Finger: Jingle Smells pits yuletide festiveness against unholy flatulence by adding sampled fart sounds to canned instrumental versions of several holiday classics. This same collection was originally released on the Arguegame label in 2004 (under the title, Pull My Finger, Vol. 3: Smelly Holidays) and returns here, via the Oglio imprint, with the track-listing unchanged and decidedly more elaborate packaging. The cover-art features a toy Santa hoisting a whoopee cushion over his shoulder, instead of his usual sack of toys - indeed a clever and funny visual. The 'music' contained on the disc is as gross and tasteless as could be expected, but a couple of ...
