| | Curtis Mayfield Curtis CD (1970) Deluxe Edition
Solo Drum Music, Vol. 1 music CDs
$8.89 CURTIS is the first solo album by R&B/soul legend Curtis Mayfield. After leaving the Impressions, Mayfield began to write lyrics that were more politically charged. With the 1970 release of CURTIS, he became one of the most important socially conscious artists of his generation. The album's opener, "(Don't Worry) If There's a Hell Below We're All Going to Go" uses racial epithets openly, as Mayfield asserts the shiftlessness of America. Set to a funky groove, with smart horn arrangements and wah-wah guitar, this song is a brazen attack on social mores, racism, the Vietnam ...

| | Bobby Sweet Days Roll By CD (2007)
Solo Drum Music, Vol. 1 album
$18.99 "Days Roll By" is Bobby's new (fifth) release, and has been causing quite a stir. As of this posting, Bobby/"Days Roll By" will be featured in the upcoming November/December issue of Berkshire Living Magazine ('07). This is a studio album in which the band and all of Bobby's vocals were captured live (ie at the same time). There were a few guest artist who were recorded as overdubs, but for the most part, this album is captured performances, and has all the nuances of people playing music together in tact. The unanimous word on the street is, it's his best work to date.Bobby is a sixth-generation musician. He began performing at age 7 in his father's band, and left at 17 to pursue his widening musical interests. As a performer, Bobby has shared the bill with some of the top country and folk artists, including Vince Gill, Bill Staines, Bill Morrissey, Deana Carter, Bryan White, Arlo Guthrie, The Neilds, and Jess Klein. As a sought-after lead guitarist he has shared the stage with George Jones, Asleep at the Wheel, Willie Nelson, The Bellamy Brothers, Waylon Jennings, and many others. Bobby has written songs that have aired on the hit television series Touched By An Angel, Walker Texas Ranger, Soul Food, and Judging Amy, among others. Another of his songs was featured in the Danny Devito/Bette Midler movie Drowning Mona. He has performed at the legendary Bluebird Cafe and other venues in Nashville, and his guitar ...
| | Rick Anton Emotional Honesty CD (2007)
Solo Drum Music, Vol. 1 CD music
$12.69 Rick Anton started writing songs during his first stay in the psychiatric ward. He found that putting words onto paper helped him to look objectively to the demons that were haunting him. If nobody was willing to listen to him, at least paper would. Originally a classically trained musician, he became bored with expressing others emotions while harboring a firestorm of toxic thoughts. Produced in the appropriately named Psychoacoustic studios with producer/engineer/left-wing-agitator Doug Ackman, this Chicago-based queer artist proved his point by saying what needed to be said. Emotional Honesty is the accumulation of therapy, Prozac and a coming out story. Sarcasm, cynicism and anger all come out on this not quite rock, not quite emo record. The album starts off with the defiant 'Freak of Nature', an in-your-face anthem to anyone who's ever failed to stay within the lines. It then moves into the Depeche Mode-esque 'Haunted By', a testament to the past. 'Won't Fade Away' hits you like an angry child with the repeated lines 'I'll never forgive you for what you did to me'. Ironically-named 'Sweet Revenge' is the antidote with its message of forgiveness. 'That You Could Never Do' gives the album its title while touting the joys of being oversensitive. A theme song for sissy-boys, he seems to be making fun of those who aren't sensitive. Jealousy and low self-esteem come out in the ironically upbeat melody of 'I Wonder If You Know'. The odd tempo of 'Euphoria' is suitable ...
