SANTA CLAUS LANE aside, this is the debut album by the ever-perky Hilary Duff, best known for her title role in the LIZZIE MCGUIRE movie and television series. It's appropriate that one of 2003's "it" girls kicks off her first proper collection of tunes with "So Yesterday," a song that celebrates an assertive present and a bright future. Taking cues from her slightly older peers Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch, Duff leans towards catchy pop-rock anthems on tracks such as "Come Clean," "Workin' It Out," and "The Math." However, the blonde teen queen also tries on some mid-tempo electronica ("Little Voice") and slower, more introspective songs ("Where Did I Go Right?," "Love Is Just," and "Inner Strength"). Although the precocious 16-year-old is already a successful actress, it appears that Duff's talents extend to pop music, and she's likely to have a promising career both on and off the screen.
Asian edition of the TV/film star's #1 debut album includes one bonus track 'A Day In The Sun'. 14 tracks including her hit single, 'Why Not?'. Sony.

$8.99 Evanescence won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. FALLEN was nominated for Album Of The Year and for Best Rock Album. "Bring Me To Life" won for Best Hard Rock Performance. The song was also nominated for Best Rock Song.
Picture Tori Amos fronting Nickelback and you'll get an idea of the sound behind Evanescence, an Arkansas quartet whose introduction to the world came via the DAREDEVIL soundtrack. With its debut FALLEN, Evanescence further pushes the envelope on the aforementioned description, with frontwoman Amy Lee pouring her light-yet-strong vocals into the aggro-rock workout "Bring Me to Life" and industrial trip-hop of "My Last Breath." Although guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt leave no riff unplayed on hard-hitting cuts like "Going Under" and "Taking Over Me," Lee brings a nice balance ...

Metamorphosis album
$6.89 This is part of Universal Records "20th Century Masters: The Millenium Collection" series.
Yeah, Kingdom Come were a bit too enamored with Led Zeppelin on their first album, and their career didn't last much longer after that, but at the very least they were one of the very examples of what was storming the rock charts back in 1987-1988. Zep-styled riffs and that sorta watered-down boogie-guitar swagger were everywhere, and Kingdom Come were just one of the many bands getting loads and loads of criticism from purists. Oddly, though, the kids (for a short time) loved it, and the records sold enough to convince those at Polydor to release this collection of some of their more well-known tunes. Obviously, it's not a collection that's gonna be picked up for its artistic integrity ("Get It On" sounds like a half-baked "Kashmir"), but it's probably fair to say that Kingdom Come really wasn't too concerned with "art." This collection works because it's a fairly good snapshot of the kind of rock that very, very briefly made quite an impact in the late '80s. If acid-washed jeans and big hair were your thing, then this collection was tailor-made. ~ Chris True
