HEAD ON is the 10-track remastered reissue of Bachman-Turner Overdrive's 1975 release that features "Lookin' Out For # 1" and "Take It Like A Man," featuring a performance by Little Richard.
This is near the end of the Bachman-Turner Overdrive story, one of the group's last albums to feature Randy Bachman. Bachman's dominance of the group is apparent -- his face alone fills the front cover, he produced the record, and he wrote or co-wrote five of the nine songs. His unhappiness is apparent, too: listen to him sing, "I feel there's no use in hanging around" on the lead-off track, "Find Out About Love," and plead, "I'm an average man, but my name is in lights" in "Average Man." By the time you get to the cocktail jazz ballad "Lookin' Out For #1" (BTO's sole entry on the easy listening chart), you can tell he's not including the group. By the time of BTO's next album, Bachman was gone, and their hit-making days were behind them. ~ William Ruhlmann

This is a great BTO Album, I bought it for the first time in 1977 and got really impressed for their great sense of what Rock and Roll should be.
Even when it is not their best , I think it still deserves credit as one
of their great jobs.
If you like BTO you will not feel desapointed with this one, as I have read in some other reviews it was their last really good album. This is also a deluxe imported edition from Germany or UK ( not sure which)with a very nice booklet explaining part of their history and good photographs of their greatest times.

Classic Blue Collar Rock Bachman-Turner Overdrive's brand of heavy-metal and boogie rock is timeless. The combination of Randy Bachman's effecive guitar playing, tight arrangements and straight production work and C.F. Turner's wonderful growl of a voice, still sounds great. Almost 30 years have passed since the album's original release in 1975. Those were the days of awful disco music, but you can be sure that you'll find nothing like that in this set of songs! Tracks like "It's Over", "Average Man", "Woncha Take Me For A While", "Wild Spirit" & "Take It Like A Man" are all typical BTO rockers. One of this CD's delights is the low-key "Lookin' Out For #1", which shows Randy Bachman's jazz leanings. Had things turned out differently in 1970, he might have become a great jazz guitarist. Great music! Submitted by sm.and (Hvidovre, Denmark) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Last Hurrah For Randy Bachman. This was the last album Randy Bachman was on. Their fifth and a quietly overlooked very good effort. They tried to change their music somewhat to get away from the same old sound. A definite must for B.T.O. fans. Was out of print for quite some time, good to see back in circulation! Finally!! It's been nearly 30 years since the release of BTO's "Head On" and finally we get a remastered version of this classic LP. When it was released in 1975 it received good reviews, but perhaps by the dissappointment of the previous LP "4-Wheel drive", this new LP was not the success the earlier LP's had been. When I bought this in 1975 I was very pleased and it was one of a handful of albums that are good all the way through. From the rocking "Take It Like a Man" to the jazzy "Looking Out for Number 1", this LP delivers the goods and delivers them well. Now if we can get a rematered version of "Not Fragile" and "Street Action", we'll be doing well. Submitted by donnyreed (Dallas, TX) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Head On album
$4.89 Released when Mercury Records was still located in Chicago, IL, back in 1973, the second album from Bachman-Turner Overdrive was the first to break through in a big way. First the hit single "Let It Ride" went Top 25 circa March of 1974, then the anthem "Taking Care of Business" went Top 15 the summer of that year. By October they would top the charts with "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" from the follow-up LP, 1974's Not Fragile, but their seven chart ...

Head On CD music
$4.75 Freeways was the final Randy Bachman album of the first BTO era, released in 1977 after their first of many "greatest-hits" collections put much of their chart activity in a tidy package on 1976's Best of B.T.O. (So Far). The price for Freeways fluctuates on Ebay and Half.com, making the album one of the more collectible of the post-hit BTO era. A Swedish seller listed it at six dollars in April of 2002 while a NY merchant had it at $24.99. At Half.com it went for $100.01 and $89.99. Rare and out of print, there is also ...
