Simply Brilliant
This classic has finally been given it's due with the sacd surround sound format. A few notes into "Overture" and you'll know you have been paid back the money invested for your equipment and this disc.

A sonic masterpiece
This deluxe edition of The Who's "Tommy" is another example of a classic album getting the TLC it deserves. I don't need to say anything about the music because numerous volumes have already been written about that.

DSD Outstanding
One does not need SACD to enjoy this album. The redbook CD is an audiophile quality. The mastering is outstanding and the album will remind you of analog.

Tommy Soundtrack buy CD music By condensing the sonic explorations of Meddle to actual songs and adding a lush, immaculate production to their trippiest instrumental sections, Pink Floyd inadvertently designed their commercial breakthrough with Dark Side of the Moon. The primary revelation of Dark Side of the Moon is what a little focus does for the band. Roger Waters wrote a series of songs about mundane, everyday details which aren't that impressive by themselves, but when given the sonic backdrop of Floyd's slow, atmospheric soundscapes and carefully placed sound effects, they achieve an emotional resonance. But what gives the album true power is the subtly textured music, which evolves from ponderous, neo-psychedelic art rock to jazz fusion and blues-rock before turning back to psychedelia. It's dense with detail, but leisurely paced, creating its own dark, haunting world. Pink Floyd may have better albums than Dark Side of the Moon, but no other record defines them quite as well as this one. The album was celebrating a total of 1,350 weeks on The Billboard 200 and Top Pop Catalog charts in Billboard magazine when Capitol Records released the 30th anniversary edition in 2003. The SACD version, as had previous digital remasterings, added space and definition to the elements of music, dialogue, and sound effects that made up the album, while the 5.1 remix expanded those improvements across multiple speakers. Original designer Storm Thorgerson contributed a new, subtly different album cover and a 20-page CD booklet that was a scrapbook of photographs and artwork associated with the album over the years. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Full Title - Dark Side of the Moon 30th Anniversary Edition. It's been 30 years since 'Floyd released their masterwork, and it's been on the charts for most of them! And now comes a new dimension to what was already the ultimate headphone experience-this new edition includes a newly-remastered conventional version and a Super Audio CD 5.1 surround mix version playable on SACD-compatible DVD players and home theater systems. Original designer Storm Thorgerson chips in with new art inside the 20-page booklet. Capitol. 2003. Audio Mixers: Gus Skinas; James Guthrie . Tommy Soundtrack CD music After working his way through loss and chaos on the brilliant TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT (recorded in 1973, but not released until 1975), Neil Young deftly exorcised any lingering demons with 1974's ON THE BEACH. The album opens with the saunter of the aptly titled "Walk On," followed by the utterly gorgeous, Wurlitzer-tinged "See the Sky about to Rain." The set also features a trio of scathing songs--"Revolution Blues," "Vampire Blues," and "Ambulance Blues"--that address issues important to Young, both social and personal. It is good to hear Young back with such bite and vitriol, especially after the broken desperation of TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT. But while ON THE BEACH is edgy and deeply felt, it also manages to sound liberating and relaxed, with glimmers of hope and humor peeking through the spare, evocative arrangements. Inexplicably unreleased on CD until 2003, ON THE BEACH is both unflinching and resilient, and easily stands as one of Young's finest albums. Tommy Soundtrack album for sale Recorded live at the Fillmore East, New York, New York on March 12-13, 1971. Originally released on Capricorn. Ultradiscs are mastered from the original master tapes using Mobile Fidelity's proprietary mastering technique, then plated with 24-karat gold and housed in a stress-resistant lift-lock jewel box. The original Fillmore East album is one of the finest live documents of the rock era, capturing the original line-up of one of the '70s' tightest outfits before they were cruelly robbed of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. Taken from five 1971 performances at New York's fabled Fillmore East, the extended and effortlessly melodic workouts of "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" and "Whipping Post" still have the power to rivet and move. On display here is the Allmans' fabled chemistry at its finest. The band not only rocks, it rolls, swings, and stretches out in exploratory, jazzy passages. The dual guitar interplay of Duane Allman and Dickey Betts glides effortlessly over the propulsive rhythm section of Oakley and twin drummers Jaimoe and Butch Trucks, while Greg Allman's powerful blues voice and melodic keyboard work provides the icing on the cake. Though the later-released THE FILLMORE CONCERTS presents these songs in their original entirety, AT FILLMORE EAST, with its seamless edits of multiple performances, may be the superior recording. It highlights all the glint and sparkle of what still ranks among the best jamming committed to record. The Allman Brothers Band: Gregg Allman (vocals, piano, organ); Duane Allman (guitar, slide guitar); Dickey Betts (guitar); Berry Oakley (bass instrument); Jai Johanny Johanson (drums, congas, timbales); Butch Trucks (drums, timpani). Tommy Soundtrack CD music Recorded between 1968 & 1971. Includes liner notes by Pete Townshend, John Atkins, and Chris Charlesworth. Though Pete Townshend was originally unhappy with WHO'S NEXT, it was quickly welcomed by critics and fans, becoming one of the most celebrated titles in their enduring catalog. His frustrations boiled down to the album being a compromised version of a larger work he'd envisioned, LIFEHOUSE, which proved too unwieldy to be realized. Expanded to a two-disc set with essays by both Townshend and John Atkins, the original nine-song album is expanded with six additional studio tracks. These include earlier versions of the album's songs and a cover of Holland-Dozier-Holland's "Baby Don't You Do It." Recorded in New York during the spring of 1971 in the midst of a fraying relationship with producer Kit Lambert, the early cuts clearly don't have the sonic breadth and wallop of what the Who achieved back in England later in the year, but are fascinating nonetheless. The second disc was recorded live before an invited audience, and was originally part of the album's grand plan. Mixing new material with covers ("Road Runner;" Mose Allison's "Young Man Blues") and original tunes from their past (the anthem "My Generation"), the band plays with a palpable urgency and fire. This was the Who at the peak of its powers, a status the group would retain as a live act through the '70s. Includes liner notes by Pete Townshend and John Atkins. Pete Townshend said that in 1965, around the time that THE WHO SING MY GENERATION came out. That hate--or, more accurately, angst--jumps out of the grooves on the album. Although the line between righteous anger and self-centered bitchiness occasionally wears thin, there is no denying that the Who were truly revolutionary. The arresting teenage anthem "My Generation," the shaky solidarity of "The Kids Are Alright," the dizzy confusion of "Instant Party (Circles)"--never had pop music expressed such raw emotions in such an uncompromising manner. At the same time, Townshend, despite his bluster, could not escape the fact that underneath his rage lay a melodist worthy of the Brill Building. On tracks such as the crystalline, harmony-laden "Much Too Much," he proved that he didn't need power to create a powerful pop song. In other words, you don't have to be a Mod to enjoy this album. But it helps. Originally released on Decca (74664) in April 1966. Includes original release liner notes. Originally released on Decca (4664). Remastered W/ 18 Bonus Tracks, 6 Are Prev.Unrel.
