excellent dvd for metheny fans not quite as good as being there, but pretty darn close; if you're a fan, you'll enjoy this dvd. Submitted by joe94553 (California, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Intense performance - but something's missing In many respects this live recording reminds you of the CD of the same name. Several tracks from other Pat Metheny projects have been added. When playing acoustic or electric (jazz)guitar everything sounds great, but at other times Metheny and his supporting musicians lean more towards experimenting with sounds for the sake of experimenteing. A main thread is lacking in his music - at least in this particular performance. His technique is fantastic but the set of songs is to diverse for my taste. Maybe it will change for the better in time Submitted by a reviewer (Hvidovre, Denmark) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Pat Metheny - Speaking Of Now: Live In Concert review
$15.09 Formed in 1968, Yes has maintained a loyal fan base over its long career. Outlasting other progressive rock groups of the 1970s, Yes is one of the more successful bands to emerge from that musical genre. Featuring live performances of songs covering their career, this release celebrates their 35th anniversary. Fronted by Jan Anderson on Vocals, Yes also includes Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, and Alan White. In this release, Yes exhibits a style reminiscent of the epic concerts from their past. Performing on a stage designed by well-known Yes Collaborator Roger Dean, the band plays songs including: "Going For the One," "Sweet Dreams," "Your Move (All Good People)," "Mind Drive Parts 1 and 2," "South Side of the Sky," "Turn of the Century," "My Eyes/Mind Drive Part 3," "Yours is no Disgrace," "Runaround," "Wonderous Stories," "Time is Time," "Roundabout," "Show Me," "Owner of a Lovely Heart," "Rhythm of Love," "And You And I," "Ritual," "Every Little ...
| | Pat Metheny Way Up CD (2005)
Pat Metheny - Speaking Of Now: Live In Concert DVD
$15.65 Guitarist Pat Metheny has been working with long song forms since his career began in the 1970s. However, his 2005 release, THE WAY UP, takes the extended form to the next level. One composition split into four sections, this album just may be Metheny's most ambitious work to date.
Collaborating with longtime associates Lyle Mays (keyboards), Steve Rodby (bass), and a host of newer PMG members, Metheny embarks on a 68-minute sonic journey. Unlike a typical jazz suite, this music doesn't break down into movements; rather, the listener hears chapters, or parts, which segue seamlessly into one another. Moreover, the composition's main theme ...

Pat Metheny - Speaking Of Now: Live In Concert movie DVD
$28.65 David Gordon Green makes a stunning directorial debut with GEORGE WASHINGTON, a highly poetic drama that tells the story of the inhabitants of a small, impoverished southern town. Focusing on a group of five adolescent friends--George (Donald Holden), Nasia (Candace Evanofski), Buddy (Curtis Cotton III), Vernon (Damian Jewan Lee), and Sonya (Rachel Handy)--Green uses the town's barren landscape to provide a bleak, yet beautiful, backdrop for their day-to-day lives. After Nasia breaks up with Buddy for George, an introverted youth with an extremely sensitive fontanel, tragedy ...
