Sixty Six tRolling Stone (2/5/04, p.62) - 3 stars out of 5 - "SIXTY SIX makes a convincing case that Plant's artistry didn't end with Led Zeppelin....[T]he set finds Plant's expressive voice in fine form..." Q (1/04, p.142) - 3 stars out of 5 - "[I]t's on the patently Zeppelin-influenced 'Ship Of Fools' and 'Calling To You' that he really plays to his strengths." Surely an artist of Plant's stature is worth a 3 CD collection instead of a two disc one. I would have stuck on a third disc Burning Down One Side, Moonlight In Samosa, Pledge Pin, Slow Dancer, Fat Lip, Other Arms, In The Mood, Horizontal Departure, Far Post, Pink and Black, Sixes and Sevens, The Way I Feel, Hurting Kind, Liar's Dance, I Cried and Down To The Sea. I think that would nicely fill up a third CD and satisfy fans and listeners for a more complete view of Robert Plant's solo years. Submitted by a reviewer (New York) Was This Review Helpful? Great look back at solo erfforts If you are a Robert Plant fan, as opposed to a Zep fan, you will like this CD set. It is quite thorough and a great addtion to his other CD's. But it is for the real fan, primarily, not the slightly-interested listener. Listening to this CD set you will hear RP's development of the style that helped make Zepplin so great. Dig in, it is worth it. I might reccommend his last effort Dreamland first however, if you don't have it already. Submitted by anastasia-mari (nyc, ny) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Where's the BEEF!!! Atlantic records has the nerve to call this a best of, greatest hits, whatever. This is far from a best of, greatest hits collection. The first Disc starts out fine. The second Disc is not worth the price of admission!! The second Disc should have continued where the first Disc left off, or they could have made it 3 Disc's. Stay away from this one until a REAL best of Plant comes out. Come on Rhino Records!! Submitted by a reviewer (Long Island, N.Y) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Drat! Only two discs This was the first Plant album i got. It was enough to get me interested in his work, which is what these 'best of' cd's are for. Obviously looking back at it now you find it isn't a defining album. A lot of his best work is bypassed. I agree with the three disc idea but some of the extras in disc 2 are pretty good. 'Road To The Sun' and 'Life Begin Again' are great unreleased songs. My disc three would include some of the 'Mighty Rearranger' tracks like 'Tin Pan Valley' and 'The Enchanter', as well as the usual suspects like 'Moonlight In Samosa', 'Like Ive Never Been Gone', 'Slow Dancer', Horizontal Departure, 'The Greatest Gift', 'Down To The Sea', 'Memory Song'... the list goes on. 'Sixty Six', overall, is a huge understatement of his brilliant solo work.
Really the best thing to do is forget about this and get 'Fate Of Nations' or 'MR' instead! Submitted by David (Perth, Scotland) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
