Fabolous More Street Dreams, PT. 2: The Mixtape CD

Contains the bonus hidden track, "Stomp Music," within the same track as "Can't Let You Go."

Over the years, the mixtape has been a way for DJs to show off their skills, while offering struggling MCs their first exposure alongside established rappers who have jumped at the chance to record underground, outside of their record labels. With MORE STREET DREAMS 2, Fabolous turns the traditional notion of the mixtape on its ear, since it's been released through a major label, and the only tune not credited to the Brooklyn rapper is a remix of "Fire," a track by Joe Budden featuring the Fabolous one. Using the term "mixtape" here is more an allusion to its feel than its reality, since MORE STREET DREAMS 2 amounts to Fabolous having fun, doing things he couldn't do on a conventional release.

In any case, there are some truly banging tracks, particularly when Fab is on his own, on tracks such as the insightful, yet still street-oriented "Now What" and the tangoed-out "Faboloso." To paraphrase one of his own songs, Fab looks at the world from a different perspective, and having his strings cut benefits his original and often oblong rhymes. An additional treat on MORE STREET DREAMS 2 is a unique CD-ROM feature that allows the listener to remix the track "Now Ride."
