This DVD feature film stars Juliette Binoche, Jean Reno. Juliette Binoche and Jean Reno play strangers who meet in an airport (via cell phone) when their flights are canceled because of a strike in Daniele Thompson's romantic French comedy JET LAG. Binoche is Rose, a woman obsessed with makeup and style, who is seemingly shallow and selfish. Reno, taking a break from playing action heroes in American films (GODZILLA, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE), is Felix, a lonely former chef who is now a frozen-food king. Rose is seeking a new life in Mexico, far from her abusive former lover, Sergio (Sergi Lopez), while Felix is heading to Munich to recapture something he has lost. Both have dysfunctional relationships with their parents--Rose with her mother, Felix with his father. As they are stuck in Charles de Gaulle Airport and later in an airport hotel, truths come out that force them to face their uncertain futures. Elisabeth Tavernier's costume design for Rose is a riot; Binoche wears lots of makeup and very bright red and blue outfits. Reno, in contrast, plays his character with a quiet, sad solemnity. Interestingly, Thompson began her career writing screenplays with her father, actor-writer-director Gerard Oury, and she cowrote JET LAG with her son, Christopher. Theatrical Release: June 13, 2003 (NY/LA) Jet Lag Reviews: "...The chemistry between the stars sizzles..."
-- Stephen Farber, Movieline's Hollywood Life "...Binoche has always been a dazzling camera subject, but in JET LAG she's so lovely she's heartbreaking..."
-- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

Oscar(R) winner Juliette Binoche (Best Supporting Actress, THE ENGLISH PATIENT, 1996; CHOCOLAT) and Jean Reno (RONIN, THE PROFESSIONAL) soar together in a wonderfully fun and sexy comedy where opposites don't just attract, they collide! Pampered beauty queen Rose (Binoche) and over-stressed insomniac Felix (Reno) have only one thing in common: They're through with bad relationships and have both sworn off the opposite sex. So when an airline strike grounds these total strangers together in Paris -- and they're forced to share the last available hotel room in town -- neither can wait to leave the other behind. But the more they try to go their separate ways, the more obvious it becomes that there's no place else they'd rather be!

$11.45 Zhang Yimou, the director of such Chinese epics as RED SORGHUM, RAISE THE RED LANTERN, JU DOU, and SHANGHAI TRIAD, takes his first stab at a period martial arts film and succeeds wildly, making an intelligent, carefully crafted drama that pays tribute to the genre while taking it to another level. The story is set 2,000 years ago, during the time of the Warring States, when seven kindgoms were battling for dominance, and one leader--the king of Qin (Chen Dao Ming)--was determined to end up victorious and unite all of China as one nation. The proud king is forced to live trapped alone in his palace as a remarkable trio of villains--Broken Sword (Tony Leung Chiu-Wai), Flying Snow (Maggie Cheung Man-Yuk), and Sky (Donnie Yen)--are out to kill him. But one day a simple country ...

$9.79 In Andy Tennant's (SWEET HOME ALABAMA, ANNA AND THE KING) delightful romantic comedy HITCH, Will Smith stars as Alex Hitchens, an urban "date doctor" who helps the common man woo the woman of his dreams. Hitch will use any means necessary--dance lessons, back waxing--to instill romantic confidence in his clientele. Why? He was once a lonely wallflower himself, who learned about love and heartbreak the hard way. His latest project, Albert Brennaman (Kevin James), may be his most difficult. Brennaman, a junior accountant prone to clumsiness, has fallen head-over-heels for one of his clients, Allegra Cole (Amber Valleta), a well-known celebrity. To complicate things further, Hitch's dating dogma is shaken when he meets and falls for a beautiful gossip columnist, Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), whose sharp wit ...

$9.99 Tyler Perry follows up his DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN with more of his unique fusion of soapy melodrama, poetry, spirituality, romance, and raucous humor based on his popular stage play. This time around, the drama centers on a pair of half-sisters struggling to overcome the oppression of their materialistic mother (Lynn Whitfield). Weak-willed daughter Lisa (Rochelle Ayetes) is being pushed into marriage with an abusive investment banker (Blair Underwood), while Vanessa (Lisa Arrindell Anderson) is unable to trust the love of too-good-to-be-true Brian (Boris Kadjoe). It may be a bit jarring at first to veer from harrowing scenes of domestic abuse to hilarious scenes of Tyler in his dual role as the tough-talking grandma Madea (here also raising a troubled foster kid) and her flatulent brother Joe, but it works, especially when Cicely Tyson ...

$10.25 British director Christopher Nolan's (BATMAN BEGINS) eclectic resume gains another interesting entry with THE PRESTIGE. The basic plot, which concerns the rivalry between two magicians in early 20th-century London, closely resembles a fellow 2006 movie--Edward Norton's THE ILLUSIONIST--and the two films are sure to be closely compared. In Nolan's film, Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale bring the characters of Robert Angier and Alfred Bordon to life. Robert and Alfred were young magician apprentices together, but became bitter rivals as their careers began to shape their adult lives and a terrible accident claimed the life of Robert's wife. In the subsequent years Robert has become wildly jealous of Alfred's superior talents, so in a last ditch attempt to steal some artistic ground he sends his assistant, Olivia (Scarlett Johansson), to infiltrate his rival's lair and steal the secret to a spectacular trick called "The Transported Man."
Nolan's film twists and turns down a number of unexpected avenues as it flits back and forth between ...
