Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re Jerry Cooper (Will Stewart) is a down-on-his-luck Los Angeles schemer who spends his days on the sun-soaked streets of Hollywood and his nights in his car. One day, Jerry's luck changes drastically when he rescues an elderly matron, Alma (Carol Gustafson), who has been knocked down by Lucky, her misbehaving bull mastiff. Jerry, uncharacteristically, takes Alma to the hospital and upon meeting her desperate daughter Helene (Stepfanie Kramer), lands an unexpected job as Alma's caretaker and dog walker. In between athletic romps with Lucky and card games with Alma and her eccentric suitors, Jerry fends off the amorous advances of Helene and her seductive teenage daughter (Nicki Aycox). Quickly, he realizes that his new job is more than he can handle alone and moves in three of his drifter pals (Tony Todd, Cress Williams, and Walter Jones) to help care for Alma's card-playing cronies--and to help Jerry plot an elaborate burglary of his new home. Writer-director Paul Dugan, a Los Angeles native, poetically captures the soulful beauty of the city and its aimless, beach-bum inhabitants. This eccentric, character-driven film dares to tackle issues of age, class, and race with equal parts comedy and tragedy. Theatrical Release Date: September 13, 2002 (LA) Dogwalker Reviews: "...[A] low-key charmer....The actors are uniformly good..."

$20.09 Mike Leigh's television adaptation of the play performed by the Hampstead Theatre Production focuses on a disastrous dinner party organized by Beverly (Alison Steadman), a middle-class Londoner who is married to Laurence (Tim Stern). The party's guests include new neighbors Angela (Janine Duvitski), a nurse, and her computer programmer husband, Tony (John Salthouse), as well as Susan (Harriet Reynolds), a divorced single mother whose 15-year-old daughter, Abigail, is throwing her first party next door. As the guests arrive and begin to get settled in, they run through the generic list of get-to-know-you topics of discussion, including work, family, life, and the history of how they met their partners. Gradually, the alcohol takes effect, causing Beverly and Tony to see each other in a sexual light when they begin to slow dance. All of this is disrupted ...

$10.49 Based on a film from 1968 (that starred Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda), this is a genially sprawling family comedy about two huge families that come together to create total chaos. Helen (Renee Russo) is the free-spirited mother of ten, including six adopted children of various races. Meanwhile, Admiral Frank Beardsley (Dennis Quaid) has eight well-trained Anglo Saxon overachievers, including a class president shoo-in (Sean Faris), a cheerleader (Katija Pevec) and a pair of sugar-addict twins (Brecken and Bridger Palmer). Among those on Helen's free-spirit side are a cute guitar-playing hipster chick (Danielle Panabaker), a sullen emo boy (Drake Bell), a rapper (Lil' JJ), a hissy-fit throwing young Asian fashion designer (Lao North), twins from India (Jennifer and Jessica Habib), and a potbellied pig. When Helen and Frank impulsively wed after reuniting at a class reunion, their differing clans ...

$8.79 Here's a gooey, hilarious, creepy horror film for the whole mutant cannibal family. Michael Rooker (HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER) stars as Grant, a big bald guy from a small southern town who gets possessed by a meat-hungry parasite worm creature from space. Even under the alien influence he still loves his wife, Starla (Elizabeth Banks), but she's alarmed at his weird new habits, such as consuming all the local wildlife. The sheriff in town (Nathan Fillion) investigates. He still carries a torch for Starla from when they were kids, but once the squirming, slithering, and cannibalism begin in earnest, it becomes clear that this is no time for romance.
SLITHER's combination of interesting characters, deadpan humor, gore aplenty, and genuine scares earns it a place alongside cult ...
