Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Director's Comments; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re Heath Ledger stars as Alex Bernier, a young priest and protegee of the excommunicated head of a mysterious order known as the Carolingians, who has recently died under mysterious circumstances. Alex is sent by Father Driscoll to Rome to investigate the death; once there, he uncovers evidence pointing to the existence of a mysterious being known as a sin-eater, a being that exists outside the jurisdiction of the church and performs "last rites" on people who have been exiled by the Church. But as Bernier, aided by his old friend Father Thomas (Mark Addy) and an artist upon whom he once performed an exorcism (Shannyn Sossamon), gets closer to the sin-eater, he is besieged by doubt as to what it really is; human or beast, evil creature that preys upon humans or renegade angel who provides fallen sinners a last chance to make it into heaven. A Suspense/Thriller with an original theme I don't remember this one being in theatres, but it should've been. Original and provocative story a `Sin-Eater':One who absorbs and takes on the burden of another's sins, thereby granting him a passage to heaven outside the authority of the church. Whether this premise has any basis in historical fact or is pure fiction does not detract from the originality and quality of the film. Compelling story, sharply-drawn characters, terrific art direction, beautifully photographed. After last summers heap of hollywood crap, this intelligent film comes as a welcome surprise. The body may be of a Sin Eater, a renegade who offers absolution, last rites and therefore a path to heaven outside the jurisdiction of the church. $10.55 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, however, ...

$6.99 RAMBO III, which could be called "Rambo in Afghanistan," is set in 1988, near the end of the Soviet Union's involvement there. At the beginning of the film, John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) is living a secluded life in a Buddhist monastery in Thailand. When Rambo's close friend and mentor from the American military, Colonel Trautman (Richard Crenna), asks for Rambo's help with a top-secret mission in Afghanistan, Rambo declines. Trautman goes in anyway and is captured by a ruthless Russian commander. In response, Rambo leaves his peaceful life, determined to rescue Trautman. Armed with only a handful of glow sticks and a dozen detonators, Rambo travels to Pakistan where he meets with a group of Mujaheddin freedom fighters who agree to lead him across the border into Afghanistan. On horseback, Rambo and the Mujaheddin approach the daunting Afghan landscape--high cliffs, jagged desert mountains, and networks of underground tunnels and caves. But before they even reach the prison where Trautman is held, the Russians head them off in a high-speed helicopter chase through steep ravines. From this point forward, the action never abates. Rambo, whose complexion is a deep crimson throughout the film, scales cliffs with his bare (bleeding) hands, and defies husky guards and scores of heavily armed Russian soldiers. There are ...

But as Wilbur grows up and faces his likely fate of becoming Christmas dinner, another friend steps in to save the day--the spider Charlotte (voiced by Julia Roberts), who spins fancy, slogan-filled webs above Wilbur's pen to convince his guardians that he is indeed a special pig and worth saving. The resulting hubbub saves his hide and reveals the importance of friendship and loyalty. Additionally, in scene after poignant scene, Wilbur learns about the nature of miracles, the seasons of life and death, and the inherent worth of even the runtiest of us.
