One of three best-of Maná compilations in the Esencials series released in 2003, Sol focuses on the band's rockers, whereas Luna focuses on their ballads and Eclipse on a distillation of both. Maná is admittedly known best for their ballads, which tended to score them their biggest hits historically, but the guys are convincing rockers as well, as showcased here on Sol. Highlights include "Oye Mi Amor," which is probably the best of Maná's earlier rockers; the song was released in 1994 on Donde Jugaran los Niños? and bares some of the band's initial resemblance to the Police as well as the influence of Soda Stereo. By and large, Maná rocked better with each album they released, however, and indeed, their most recent work here is their most appealing. "Sábanas Frías" and "Angel de Amor," both released in 2002 on Revolución de Amor, are very impressive, the former notably featuring salsa legend Rubén Blades, while the newly recorded song "Te Llevare al Cielo" is a soaring album opener that is clearly among the band's best songs to date, rockers or otherwise. As enjoyable as Sol may be from beginning to end, especially relative to Luna, keep in mind that since Eclipse compiles the best of the band's ballads as well as rockers -- distilling the highlights of both Luna and Sol to a single disc -- it's the recommended route to take for anyone considering a Maná compilation. Eclipse includes all the key songs found here, like the aforementioned "Oye Mi Amor" and "Sábanas Frías," and it intersperses them with ballads like "Rayando el Sol" and "Vivir sin Aire," not only showcasing a full picture of Maná's musical ability but also offering a more compelling listening experience overall. Note that all three Esencials releases include "Te Llevare al Cielo." ~ Jason Birchmeier

Mana's 'Sol' is a rarified blend of salsa-centric rhythm driven to the beat of classic rock & roll. The melodies are executed with an exciting Latin flavor infused with deft performances on both percussion and guitar. The passionate vocals swell with power and are even more exciting when in harmony. This is truly one of the most enjoyable albums I have ever owned. If the opening cut on this CD doesn't get you dancing in your chair and stirring with the rhythm, then you have no pulse, or blood in your veins. Viva Mana! $10.29 With the release of Robert Altman's M*A*S*H in 1970, a new form of comedy was born, one that would help to forever change the face of cinema. Altman's audacious film reflected the American counterculture's growing distrust of religion and government in the late 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in one of the biggest box office smashes of its time. Introducing the techniques he would employ throughout his storied career--overlapping dialogue, a constantly moving camera with a heavy amount of zooming, and a bold combination of frank subject matter with cynical humor--Altman immediately vaulted himself to Hollywood's upper ranks. Based on the novel by Richard Hooker, M*A*S*H follows a group of Mobile Army Surgical Hospital officers as they perform surgery and pass the time just miles from the front lines of the Korean conflict. ...
| | Mana Eclipse CD (2003) With Cdrom; Digipak; Enhanced CD
Sol album
$8.59 Though virtually unknown in much of English-speaking America, Mana is one of the most popular Rock en Espanol groups in the world, regularly selling millions of albums and filling concert stadiums to capacity. ECLIPSE is the band's long-overdue greatest hits album, which collects over a decade's worth of Mana's best songs and adds one newly recorded track to the group's legacy.
Often called "the Latin Police," because of the group's use of reggae rhythms, sparse production, and singer Fher's uncanny vocal resemblance to Sting, Mana also incorporates elements of INXS, Joe Jackson, and other new wave pioneers into its distinctly 1980s-influenced international stew. Though a quick listen to this disc reveals that the Mexican band's sound has evolved little over the years, this consistency (along with the group's refusal to sing in English and dedication ...

Sol CD music
$8.69 One of three best-of Maná compilations in the Esencials series released in 2003, Luna focuses on the band's ballads, whereas Sol focuses on their rockers and Eclipse on a distillation of both. Maná enjoyed the most commercial success with their ballads, beginning with their first major hit, "Rayando el Sol" (1992), and their breakthrough hit, "Vivir sin Aire" (1994). For the most part, the band's subsequent ballads are variations of these initial hits, and from album to album this becomes apparent. Thus, Luna is a bit redundant as a whole. These ballads function superbly amid any given Maná album, interspersed dynamically among rockers and mid-tempo pleas of passion. Lined up one after another as they are here, however, the ballads lose much of their impact as the album progresses. ...

$18.99 00 formed in summer 2006 on Court 11. With a tape recorder by their side they jammed once a week. However, they soon started jamming 3 times a week and over the next few months amassed enough material for 15 songs. In the fall of 2007 they started arranging and recording all of the material they had jammed on and what came out was their self-titled instrumental debut "d0ublezer0 - 00" consisting of 13 songs. The album can best be described as instrumental guitar-driven pop/rock music with a world beat influence. Alternative Muzak. 00 consists of Ty Avolio and Scott Brown.
