| Great Stuff from an American Icon I don't much care for his politics, but what can I say, he's a great musician! This collection has some awesome material on it and the bonus CD isn't too bad either; however, for some reason "Tenth Avenue Freeze-out" always gets left out of the Boss's compilations. Eagles Very Best Of CDs (2003) Top Seller
Essential Bruce Springsteen buy CD music THE VERY BEST OF includes a 46-page booklet with pictures and track information.
"Hole In The World" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
The Eagles' founders Don Henley and Glenn Frey were forthright in their desire to bring then-emerging country rock to new heights of commercial success. Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, they learned from their observations of the scene around them, and subsequently took their music to the top of the charts. They stayed there throughout the '70s, becoming synonymous with the sound of Southern California rock.
The band's first hit was with a song by Jackson Browne, and their first album also included a cover of "Ol' 55" by Tom Waits, but the bulk of the material they're known for was penned by Henley and Frey. This two-disc set wisely expands the original VERY BEST OF collection with important album tracks that have also long been band staples and favorites (such as the aforementioned Waits tune and a number of other songs from their pre-platinum first three releases). As is often the common industry-wide practice, there's also a new song, "Hole in the World."
A 2-CD retrospective from the multiplatinum superstars whose 1976 "Greatest Hits" is the #1 album of all time! Special Limited Edition bonus DVD included with a music video, outtakes from the video and backstage pass to Farewell 1.
Initial pressings included a bonus DVD.

Animals Retrospective CD (2004) Top Seller
Essential Bruce Springsteen songs Today the most recognition the Animals get is "House of the Rising Sun" being played on oldies radio, but in the mid-1960s they were a powerful part of the British Invasion, often reckoned on a par with the Beatles, the Stones, and the Who. Like those bands, the Animals had strong roots in blues and R&B, but, in their original incarnation, they stayed closer to those roots than their peers did. This definitive compilation, masterfully assembled by the ABKCO think tank of Teri Landi and Jody Klein, shows the tough, uncompromising use to which the Animals put their American influences. John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" is recast as a raw garage rocker glazed with Alan Price's sinister organ riffs, and the aforementioned "House of the Rising Sun" is transformed from a traditional folk lament to an urgent, ominous piece of churning tumult.
Of course, the group skillfully expanded those roots (with the help of some great writers), and turned out some classic working-class-rebel anthems ("We Gotta Get Out of This Place," "It's My Life"). By '67, the original lineup disbanded, and Eric Burdon led a new batch of Animals into a psychedelic West Coast sound ("San Franciscan Nights," "Monterey"). The Animals may not be given pride of place in the rock history books, but RETROSPECTIVE shows that they fully deserve it.

Beatles Let It Be CDs (1970) Top Seller
Essential Bruce Springsteen album for sale LET IT BE...NAKED contains a FLY ON THE WALL bonus disc including song rehearsals and conversation snatches.
Includes liner notes by Kevin Howlett and interview excerpts with The Beatles
In its original form, LET IT BE signaled the end of an era, closing the book on the Beatles, as well as literally and figuratively marking the end of the '60s. The 1970 release evolved from friction-filled sessions the Beatles intended to be an organic, bare-bones return to their roots. Instead, the endless hours of tapes were eventually handed over to Phil Spector, since neither the quickly splintering Beatles nor their longtime producer George Martin wanted to sift through the voluminous results.
LET IT BE... NAKED sets the record straight, revisiting the contentious sessions, stripping away the Spectorian orchestrations, reworking the running order, and losing all extemporaneous in-studio banter. On this version of the album, filler tracks ("Dig It," "Maggie Mae") are dropped, while juicy b-side "Don't Let Me Down" is added. The most obvious revamping is on the songs handled heavily by Spector. Removing the orchestrations from "The Long and Winding Road" and "Across the Universe" gives Paul McCartney's vocals considerably more resonance on the former, doing the same for John Lennon's voice and guitar on the latter. This alternate take on LET IT BE enhances the album's power, reclaiming the raw, unadorned quality that was meant to be its calling card from the beginning.
from the original LET IT BE book.
The Beatles: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr.
Personnel: Billy Preston (keyboards).
Audio Mixers: Alan Rouse; Guy Massey; Paul Hicks.
Liner Note Author: Kevin Howlett.
Recording information: 01/1969.

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band / Bob Seger Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 CD (2003)
Essential Bruce Springsteen CD music Billy Payne (piano); Craig Frost (organ); David Hood, Chris Campbell (bass); David Teegarden, Roger Hawkins (drums, percussion); Russ Kunkel (drums); Bobbye Hall (percussion); Laura Creamer, Joan Sliwin (background vocals).
Upon the release of GREATEST HITS VOL. 2, Michigan's answer to Bruce Springsteen had receded into the Boss' considerably large shadow, thanks to a self-imposed hiatus that found him recording only two studio albums in the 1990s. Despite the seemingly short attention span of the pop music world, this particular collection presents a fine argument that may reinforce Bob Seger's stature in the eyes of non-die-hard fans that only know him from regular rotation on classic rock radio.
This compilation dips into Seger's periodic soundtrack contributions ranging from TEACHERS' piano-driven "Understanding" and the soaring MOR Martina McBride duet "Chances Are" from HOPE FLOATS to "Shakedown," the rocker's only chart-topper from BEVERLY HILLS COP II. The collection also scratches the surface of Seger's influences, particularly when he goes back to 1981 and 1974, with covers of Rodney Crowell's countrified lament "Shame on the Moon" and Tom Waits' barfly anthem "New Coat of Paint," respectively. This Detroit native also tips a hat to his harder-rocking side by tossing classics like the salacious "The Fire Down Below," the howling "Her Strut," and "Tomorrow," a song written for this album that boasts a stomping tempo and Joan Osborne-like harmonies.
Additional Tracks
Personnel: Bob Seger (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, harmonica); Martina McBride, Glenn Frey (vocals); Pete Carr (acoustic & electric guitars); Drew Abbott (guitar); Harvey Thompson (tenor saxophone); Ron Eades (baritone saxophone); Harrison Galloway (trumpet); Charles Rose (trombone); Barry Beckett (piano, electric piano, organ, synthesizer); Matt Rollings,
Producers include: Bob Seger, Bill Szymczyk, Punch, Jimmy Iovine, Harold Faltermeyer.
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.

Devils & Dust CD (2005)
Essential Bruce Springsteen songs Where THE RISING, a direct response to the tragedy of 9/11, rallied the spirit with impassioned optimism, the characters Bruce inhabits on DEVILS & DUST are often neck-deep in regret, bitterness, and despair. Not only does the album demonstrate the width of Springsteen's emotional range; perhaps more importantly, it contains some of his finest writing since its spiritual cousin, 1987's similarly harrowing, low-key TUNNEL OF LOVE. Over a bed of acoustic guitars, occasional keyboards, and a no-frills rhythm section (plus the odd string section--a new wrinkle), Bruce matches hard-won emotional insights with poetic reveries that never abandon personal resonance for flights of fancy. In the process, he careens sharply away from those who would freeze him in the full-bore-rocker role of which he sometimes wearies.
In much the same way that he followed the full-on assault of THE RIVER with the scaled-down, folk-based NEBRASKA, some two-and-a-half decades later, Bruce Springsteen made another stylistic about-face. In stark contrast to its predecessor, 2002's uplifting, epic-scale rocker THE RISING, DEVILS & DUST is a spare, quiet, acoustic-oriented album full of shadows and whispers.
Parental Advisory; Dual Disc CD/DVD
Personnel: Bruce Springsteen (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, drums, tambourine, percussion); Marty Rifkin (steel guitar); Brendan O'Brien (hurdy-gurdy, sarangi, sitar, bass guitar, tambora); Soozie Tyrell (violin, background vocals); The Nashville String Machine (strings); Brice Andrus, Susan Welty, Thomas Witte, Donald Strand (horns); Chuck Plotkin (piano); Danny Federici (keyboards); Steve Jordan (drums); Patti Scialfa, Lisa Lowell (background vocals); Mark Pender.
