| Live In Europe Music Review Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) Progressive Evolution? I hope not. I've never been a huge fan of these "supergroup" types such as Transatlantic. But I decided to give this a go. Final result? I should have listened to that inner voice telling me to keep my Visa card in my pocket. I've listened to this several times now and I'm afraid I just don't see it. The music seems to lack direction and collective energy, not to say an absence of decent melody. I don't get a real sense of a band from this set. Just a handful of very talented blokes trying a bit too hard to be hip. And I'm afraid the Neal Morse bandwagon seems to have passed me by. Do people really think he's that good? I've been a prog rock fan for over 30 years and if this is prog rock now, I think my jazz collection is about to get a big boost. Transatlantic for me is just an overblown disappointment. I suggest you try before you buy. (And who's idea was the Abbey Road medley? They should have thought that one through more carefully!) Nicely done! After lots of trouble finding it where I live I was happy to be able to get it from CDU. This is a great CD just a notch below the live in America. A good buy. Submitted by darksyla (Montreal, Quebec) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Simply incredible ! When Mike Portnoy and fellows decides to make a progressive project, I didn't think that the result will be so great.
Transatlantic is a modern version of Yes, not a copy, but a evolution.
Transatlantic is great. Try It, and enjoy !!!! Submitted by PHSMONTE (Santos, SP, Brazil) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Materpieces!!! If you are the kind of people who really understands what good music is all about and enjoys complex and rich music in the likes of progressive genres then, you must get all the "Transatlantic" CDs. A+ Submitted by joseocando (Caracas, Venezuela.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Ace Frehley CD (1978) Remastered
Live In Europe
$6.49 Personnel: Ace Frehley (vocals, acoustic & electric guitar, synthesizer, bass); Will Lee (bass); Anton Fig (drums, percussion); Carl Tallarico (drums); Bill "Bear" Scheniman (bell); David Lasley, Susan Collins, Larry Kelly, Bobby McAdams (background vocals). Recorded at the "Mansion," Sharon, Connecticut. Includes liner notes by Robert V. Conte. All tracks have been remastered. Personnel: Ace Frehley (vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar, guitar synthesizer, bass guitar, background vocals); Bill Scheniman (vocals, bells); David Lasley, Larry Kelly, Susan Collins (vocals, background vocals); Anton Fig (drums, percussion); Carl Tallarico (drums). Audio Remasterer: Joseph M. Palmaccio. Liner Note Author: Robert V. Conte. Recording information: Plaza Sound, NY; The Mansion, Sharon, CT. Of the four Kiss solo albums released simultaneously in 1978, the best of the bunch is guitarist Ace Frehley's. Similar in approach to Paul Stanley's album, Frehley did not stray far from the expected heavy Kiss sound (like Gene Simmons and Peter Criss did with their releases), but Ace was equipped with better compositions than Stanley. With future Late Night with David Letterman drummer Anton Fig helping out (as well as Letterman bassist Will Lee on three tracks), Frehley proved once and for all that he was not simply a backup musician to Kiss head honchos Simmons and Stanley. All of the tracks are strong, such as the venomous opener, "Rip It Out," as well as a few tracks that confirm how Frehley was indulging in alcohol and drugs a bit too much by the late '70s ("Snow Blind," "Ozone," and "Wiped Out"). You'll also find many underrated compositions ("Speedin' Back to My Baby," "What's on Your Mind?," "I'm in Need of Love"), a gorgeous instrumental ("Fractured Mirror"), and the Top 20 hit single "New York Groove." Unfortunately, when Ace left Kiss in 1982 (eventually ...
