CLASSICAL SHRED MEETS DEATH METAL This CD is insane, The technical neo-classical riffs by Muhammed are perfect, The solos are amazing alot of people that say classical shred doesn't belong in death metal is full of sh!t and have no taste this CD is great to have for your metal collection I'm glad I bought it Submitted by DeathMetalHead (Morbid Falls, AZ) Was This Review Helpful? Perfect mix of technicality, musicality, and BRUTALITY!! I don't know what the douche below was talking about when he said this album didn't have any passion... Every song on here is brilliant and even though extremely technical, they ALL have awesome riffs that'll get stuck in your head. I highly recommend anything that Necrophagist puts out. Boring. These guys are very talented musicians, don't get me wrong. They can play extremely well, but there is no force behind this music. I hear no passion, no energy. It seems to me that they're just showing off how good they are at playing their instruments, and nothing more. If you want good tech-death, I'd suggest Atheist, Gorguts, or Arsis, as they actually sound passionate. I was supremely disappointed in this album and it was a waste of money! Onset Of Putrefaction album
$12.59 The first album by Necrophagist, 1999's Onset of Putrefaction, was actually a completely solo recording made by Turkish guitar prodigy Muhammed Suicmez, who also handled the vocals, bass guitar, and drum programming. Slowly but steadily, that album became legendary in the death metal underground for its over-the-top technical excess and death-defying guitar heroics. As a result of that notoriety, Suicmez was able to put together a full four-piece band of live musicians with enough skill and endurance to play his difficult, fast, and intricate compositions. Epitaph is the first album by this full lineup, and as expected, it features an almost nonstop assault of complex, technical death metal with an emphasis on Suicmez's lead guitar. And indeed, on a technical level, Necrophagist outpaces just about every death metal band out there, including the likes of Anata, Cephalic Carnage, and maybe even standard-setters Cryptopsy. The guitars race in tandem, delivering airtight 32nd and 64th note runs in odd time signatures, with flawless double-bass drumming and gurgling slap basslines underpinning it all. As technical as it is, this album is surprisingly melodic, with a mix of Gothenburg-tinged and neo-classical-type melodies weaving their way in and out of the stop-start rhythms. Meanwhile, Suicmez fills just about every available space with his legato, ultraclean, and controlled soloing. (Guitar buffs looking for a death metal version of Yngwie Malmsteen need look no further.) ...
| | Behemoth Demigod CD (2005) Enhanced CD
Onset Of Putrefaction CD music
$11.95 That their albums usually feel like they end too quickly is but one of the superlatives explaining why so few extreme metal bands have been as consistent as Poland's Behemoth over the years (Greece's Rotting Christ and Sweden's Opeth also come to mind). Having laid the groundwork for this consistency with a slew of promising works in the early '90s, Nergal's bloodthirsty trio arguably hit their stride with 2000's Thelema.6, charged inexorably forward with 2002's Zos Kia Cultus, and, in 2004's follow-up, Demigod, they may well have completed what may one day be looked back upon as their defining, unholy trinity of masterful death/black metal. Lending this bold statement weight is the band's readily identifiable style: a brutal assault built on machine-gun playing so technical and precise, yet so instinctively primal, that one's basest and most sophisticated metallic desires are almost always equally sated. What's more, Behemoth's nerve-shattering death metal onslaught -- relentless though it may be -- on highlights such as "Sculpting the Throne ov Seth," "Conquer All," and "XUL" still allows for much more breathing room than nearly impenetrable colleagues like, say, Nile or Suffocation. As well as being the result of outstanding production quality (a deficiency many metal bands try to hide under overpowering intensity), ...

Onset Of Putrefaction CD music
$11.39 All songs written by members of Exodus except "Bitch" (Jagger/Richards) and "Pump It Up" (Elvis Costello).
For Force Of Habit, Exodus slows the pace a notch, drops the guitars a register, and gives the thrash a little room to breathe. Still, the approach does allow for some melody, and the inclusion of a pair of uncharacteristic cover versions ...

Onset Of Putrefaction CD music
$15.19 Though it's more of a novelty than an actual musical accomplishment, Pick My Kiss: The Bluegrass Tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers (performed by a six-piece band) is surprisingly less ridiculous than it initially sounds. Most of the songs chosen to be covered actually transfer pretty well into the bluegrass format, especially the often slower, minor ones like "Breaking the Girl," "Californication," and "Road Trippin'," and particularly "Under the Bridge," whose foray into country music is hardly a stretch, sounds pretty good, too. Even the punky "Give It Away" comes across as plausible (although unfortunately the same cannot be said about "By the Way" or "Suck My Kiss"). Yeah, Pick My Kiss elicits that same kind ...
