Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English Based on actual events that occurred in Louisiana during 1960. Ruby (newcomer Monet) is a first grader who, after scoring one of the highest grades on her school board exam, is chosen as one of the first black students to integrate an all-white school. As racial tension escalates, Ruby is escorted to school by federal marshals, who attempt to protect her from the angry protestors. With guidance and support from her mother (Rochon), father (Beach), teacher (Miller) and a child psychologist (Pollak), Ruby finds the determination to overcome all obstacles. An uplifting story of one girl's courage.

Great Movie Shows how nasty humans can and will be
even to a child. Also how having faith can help one accomplish and overcome adversity. What makes one group of people think they are better than
another. Submitted by aziza (Bossier CIty,LA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
this movie it the Bomb! Where have you been hiding this movie, for sure, it must have be brushed off, as okish, but this movie equal's any oscar academy award winning movie, it really should be shown around the world and available for all schools as a foundational basis for those in the teaching profession and those aspiring to be teachers, it will really make people think on why do I want to become a teacher :) Submitted by alie_65 (Birmingham, England) Was This Review Helpful? best movie some people think I don't pay attention in history and their right...I don't but when it comes down to that movie all eyes are on me. I'm not the type whose all good grades and whatever but that movie changed history just like rosa parks did on the bus and martin luther king jr. with I have a dream. most people think blacks cause trouble but their wrong that's just being racist not all blacks are trouble whites can cause trouble to that has nothing to do with skin color. when I was brought up I was told whites stay with whites and blacks stay with blacks but if uyou fall in love with someone a diffrent color oh well color shouldn't matter. people also tell me alot of black men beat on women...I look at them strange and say what you think white people don't. my point is nobody should be racist its stupid to not like someone because they dress diffrent or because there a diffrent race. Ruby Bridges DVD Ruby Bridges
Disney presents the inspiring true story of one little girl whose strength and dignity during the racially charged 1960s helped change history! When bright six-year-old Ruby is chosen to be the first African-American student to integrate her local New Orleans elementary school, she is subjected to the true ugliness of racism for the very first time. But guided by the love of her mother (Lela Rochon -- WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE, WAITING TO EXHALE) and father (Michael Beach -- SOUL FOOD, TV?s THIRD WATCH), Ruby's heroic struggle for a better education becomes a lesson for us all. An acclaimed and entertaining motion picture also starring Penelope Ann Miller (THE GUN IN BETTY LOU'S HANDBAG, CARLITO'S WAY) and Kevin Pollak (THE USUAL SUSPECTS, A FEW GOOD MEN) -- you'll want to share this remarkable story of courage and pride with your family!

$15.45 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, however, that he is quite capable of delivering the goods in this genre. Based on the Lupin comics by the artist ...
