Scotland's Primal Scream provided the Brit-pop movement of the early '90s with one of its most revered albums, Screamadelica. The group's trippy blend of electronica, bluesy Stones-kissed alternative rock, and acid house fueled a lot of weekend benders, but they were never a singles band, which makes this first collection of "hits" both glorious and problematic. Beloved Primal Scream epics like "Loaded," "Swastika Eyes," and "Kill All Hippies" appear here in their edited versions along with familiar 120 Minutes staples like "Higher Than the Sun" and "Movin' on Up," giving the novice a decent outline of the band's seven albums, but longtime fans would probably trade Dirty Hits' penchant for brevity for remastered versions of the original LPs. ~ James Christopher Monger
This is the first greatest hits package from the alternative music pioneers, Primal Scream, & features tracks taken from their seven studio albums. From the genre breaking 'Loaded' through the Stones influenced 'Rocks' the album showcases the band's unique blend of guitars, electronica & Bobby Gillespie's unmistakable vocals. The album also includes the single 'Some Velvet Morning' featuring guest vocals from model Kate Moss. Sony.

Dirty Hits album
$10.35 Yo La Tengo began life as one among hundreds of Velvet Underground-inspired bands, banging out dark, skittish tunes that displayed YLT guitarist/vocalist Ira Kaplan's affection for Uncle Lou as well as Yo La Tengo's commitment to creating a gently subversive groove. Over the years, the band, which ...
| | Mum Finally We Are No One CD (2002)
Dirty Hits CD music
$12.25 Múm's first album for Fat Cat -- by no coincidence, the label that also broke fellow Icelanders Sigur Rós -- has all the majestic synths, crackly drum machine percussion, sampled silence, and crystalline vocals you'd expect from the country that produced Björk and Sigur Rós, though with less focus on digital sound than the former and less reliance on drama than the latter. Múm is very interested in the music of sound, but Finally We Are No One never sounds like a difficult record; if it's not the instruments sounding naïve or folksy (in good ways), the lisping, childlike vocals are bound to prompt adjectives ...
| | Flaming Lips Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots CD (2002)
Dirty Hits music CDs
$9.89 "Approaching Pavonis Mons By Balloon (Utopia Planitia)" won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
This limited edition includes a bonus DVD version of YOSHIMI BATTLES THE PINK
ROBOTS including the whole album in surround sound, videos and rare tracks.
Emerging sometime in the '80s, Oklahoma boys The Flaming Lips have held steady to a peripheral, but significant location in the indie-rock world, visionaries blessed with a hyper-keen pop sensibility. In 1999, four years removed from the surprise alterna-pop hit "She Don't Use Jelly," the trio fronted by the fetching, impelling whisper of Wayne Coyne hit a remarkably high note, making scores of year-end 'best ...
| | Interpol Turn On The Bright Lights CD (2002)
Dirty Hits songs
$10.15 To make music marked distinctly of a specific period that's somehow so compelling as to be timeless is no mean feat. Interpol initially sounds as if they must have been roaming about Manchester as the 1970s screamed to a close, yet they emerged across the ocean in New York City some two decades-plus later. Combining the insistent drone of Joy Division with the dreamy melodies of the Chameleons, the fire of Mission of ...
| | Clean Anthology CDs (2003)
Dirty Hits album
$13.45 Disc one of this indispensable set has all the early, classic songs: the silly organ-soaked frenzy of "Tally Ho," the scrappy sing-along "Beatnik," the Pavement-covered "Oddity," and the gorgeous lament, "Getting Older." Disc two compiles the best songs from The Clean's reformation during which they made 1990's VEHICLE, '94's MODERN ROCK and '96's UNKNOWN COUNTRY. Most often operating as a trio, the core of The Clean were the brothers Kilgour, David and Hamish, with bassist and Bats frontman Robert Scott. While The Clean remain a cult band, their fanbase is loyal and obsessive; and while they've influenced countless bands over the years, if not the entire subgenre known ...

Dirty Hits album
$12.69 Mellotrön is the brainchild of Detroit-based guitarist, vocalist and metal innovator Tony Piccoli. Influenced by the raw power of bands such as Strapping Young Lad, Meshuggah and Pantera , as well as the disciplined complexities of progressive groups like Dream Theater and Genesis, Piccoli set out to change the face of metal. His blend of crushing guitars, ethereal overtones, a combination of vocal styles and wonderful melody are wrapped in subtly complex time signatures, skull-crushing guitar riffs, and melodic hooks so memorable that you will need surgery to get these songs out of your head. After playing in several bands while living Arizona in the 90's, Piccoli moved back to his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. He began writing songs that would become the blueprint for Mellotrön's sound. After years of writing the music and working on perfecting the sound, Piccoli hooked up with local musicians to record two demo discs titled The Umlaut Speaks & The Umlaut Doth Spake which Piccoli himself says both are "fucking certified."In 2007 Mellotrön made the leap from a recording project to a fully fledged live band. Joining Piccoli ...
