"Did My Time" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Metal
There's real depth here, both in musicality and emotion, as evidenced by the searing "Did My Time" and the Nas-accompanied "Play Me," where the rapper sounds totally at home amid the sonic onslaught. There's also a subtle sense of playfulness in the music, a testament both to the band's decision to produce itself and its back-to-basics sense of rediscovery. It's doubtful whether the Korn of LIFE IS PEACHY would--or could--have relaxed enough to produce something as lighthearted, (and, ironically, as commercial) as "Y'All Want a Single," a track inspired by that showbiz clichT, the managerial "Boys, what we need is a single" speech.
Includes Bonus DVD.
Recorded at Elementree Studios, Tarzana, California and Piety Street Studios, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Korn: Jonathan Davis (vocals); James The Gorilla, Sir Headly (guitar); Dog (bass); Wally Balljacker (drums).
Producers: Korn, Jonathan Davis, Frank Filipetti.
The good news: "Right Now," with its coruscating, descending bassline reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and obvious hip-hop influences (in both the beat and the sinister, low-key spoken middle eight), is a tour de force of pissed-off angst. The even better news: On LOOK IN THE MIRROR, Korn have grasped the nu-metal nettle and come up with that rare crossbreed of influences that's bigger than the sum of its parts, which in Korn's case, encompasses rap and even prog rock.
Additional personnel: Nas (rap vocals); Polar Bear (programming).

Good and good will do... Korn is to me as it would be to everyone else, and that is an awesome well versed band. I gave this disk a spin and I must admit that it does have the makings of the first disk they put out. On the other hand the rest is groovin' and I dug it but, It leaves a little to be desired. I am a true fan thru and thru, but I did leave the table a little disatisfied. It will remain in my catalog as a true effort by one of the best bands that ever rocked the earth. This too will be a record of progress, just like every other band out there. Some go up, some go down. In my mind this band is still on the way up after they already have achieved the altitude of 100,000 feet. Next stop, outside of the universe. Take A Look In The Mirror album
$6.25 "Shoots And Ladders" was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
"Are you readyyyy?!" With that question--an inquiry that begins as a growl and ends as a scream--Jonathan Davis provides a fitting beginning to this searing collection of relentless, metallicized thrash/funk. His question is well-posed; this is not music for the faint of heart. Producer Ross Robinson and ...

After THE UNTOUCHABLES, Korn can never again be accused of sounding like Limp Bizkit. Though in the past, they've often been lumped in with the likes of the Biz due to their penchant for mixing hip-hop and heavy metal, UNTOUCHABLES represents a step forward. Part of the reason may be the involvement of producer Michael Bienhorn, who old-timers will recall as a founding member of early-'80s avant rock/funk/jazz outfit Material. Whether its Bienhorn's influence or just the band's desire to progress (we're betting on a combo of both), the songs here are full of carefully delineated and sung melodies ...

$12.39 Representing a classic case of delayed fame, Italian goth-metal act Lacuna Coil broke into the American music consciousness via a much talked-about showing on the Ozzfest 2004 second stage, nearly two years after the release of their third album, COMALIES. Similar to its American counterparts Evanescence, this European sextet features the dual vocals of Cristina Scabbia ...

$16.99 This release includes a bonus DVD featuring behind-the-scenes footage and a live performance filmed at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Despite changing personnel for the second consecutive album, Static-X has successfully continued down the path of hard-charging industrial rock on their third album, SHADOW ZONE. In an odd move, drummer Nick Oshiro is named in the liner notes as the departed Ken Jay's replacement despite the fact that A Perfect Circle's Josh Freese was responsible for all the drumming on this outing. ...
