This DVD feature film stars Rob Schneider. Special features include deleted scenes, featurettes, more. Marvin Mange (Rob Schneider) has only one dream in life: to become a police officer, like his father. Unfortunately, Marvin's natural clumsiness and lack of self-esteem have made him the laughing stock of his police coworkers. All of that changes after a freak car accident, and a mad scientist's intervention. When Marvin regains consciousness, he can run faster, jump higher, and smell things no ordinary human should be able to smell, allowing him to perform as a top-notch cop. But Marvin's rival on the police force (John C. McGinley) is out to get him. What's worse, Marvin soon learns that he cannot handle his animal urges. Colleen Haskell from the television show SURVIVOR makes her film debut, and Schneider delivers a terrific performance in a perfect comic role. THE ANIMAL is a hilarious collection of gags and bizarre sights (including Marvin's amorous encounter with a goat) that add up to make this silly, warmhearted comedy. Theatrical Release: JUNE 1, 2001 Animal Reviews: "...Outrageous and imaginative....Schneider is wonderfully expressive..."

-- Andy Richards, Sight and Sound "...[A] very funny comedy....Its relative modesty lends Mr. Schneider's deft, ingenious performance an unexpected glow of innocence..."

$12.85 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, however, that he is quite capable of delivering the goods in this genre. Based on the Lupin comics by the artist Monkey Punch, CAGLIOSTRO is a great heist/chase film that surpasses most similar live action fare and breezes by with more than a couple of inventive set pieces, ...

Animal film
$6.55 In keeping with Hollywood's time-honored tradition of turning celebrated novels into cinematic spectacles, director John Madden brings Louis de Bernière's acclaimed 1994 work, CORELLI'S MANDOLIN, to life. Set on the Greek island of Cephalonia in 1940, the film tells the story of the beautiful Pelagia (Penelope Cruz), who lives with her father, Dr. Iannis (John Hurt), and is engaged to a local fisherman, Mandras (Christian Bale). When Mandras leaves the island to fight for his country, Pelagia is left behind to worry, and to wait for a letter that never arrives. In the meantime, the Italian army occupies Cephalonia, and Pelagia and Dr. Iannis receive a new visitor into their home. Captain Antonio Corelli (Nicolas Cage), a romantic opera lover with a passion for playing the mandolin, annoys Pelagia with his free-spirited personality, but it's this charm that eventually wins her heart. Soon, the two are head over heels in love. Mandras's return adds friction to the situation, but when the ...

$9.85 Martin Scorsese's electrifying drama tells the story of Charlie (Harvey Keitel), a charming 27-year-old who is supported by his devoutly Catholic mother. He spends his days wandering the streets of New York City and nights hanging out drinking with his good friend Johnny Boy (the terrifyingly brilliant Robert De Niro), a loose cannon that can't seem to escape trouble. Charlie's extreme affability makes him the middle man between his mob-tied uncle Giovanni (Cesare Danova) and various clients, as well as between Johnny Boy and Michael (Richard Romanus), a bookie who has become fed up with Johnny Boy's constant debt dodging. As the city's San Gennaro Festival takes over the streets of Little Italy, Michael seeks revenge on Johnny Boy once and for all.
MEAN STREETS is the film in which Scorsese blossomed into one of the world's most ferociously distinct visionaries, a vision which has, for better or worse, become one of the most mimicked in the history of modern cinema. While his usage of a nostalgic pop music soundtrack, long one-takes and handheld cameras, ...
