The Catbird Seat is a rare session from the short-lived trio of pianist Dwike Mitchell, bassist Willie Ruff, and drummer Charlie Smith. | | Albert King Complete King & Bobbin Recordings CD (2004)
Mexicanhits 2004 album
$13.29 This Collectables reissue highlights 24 tracks Albert King recorded in the late '50s and early '60s for the Bobbin and King labels. These post-Parrot, pre-Stax tracks find the left-handed blues guitar innovator formulating his big-city urban sound with the addition of a horn section. This is strong, gritty material highlighted by definitive versions of "Let's Have a Natural Ball," "Blues at Sunrise," "I Get Evil," and "Don't Throw Your Love On Me So Strong," King's first hit single outside the St. Louis area, where he was working the club circuit at the time. Also included are alternate versions of "I've Made Nights By Myself," "Blues at Sunrise," "The Time Has Come," and "Why Are You So ...

Mexicanhits 2004 songs
$9.59 These songs began life during the period of May 1987-May 1990. Most came from 'jams' between Aaron and Crawford. Bryan would often sit in on these 'jam' sessions and add lyrics to the music. Though not a participating member of the group then known as Guttate Rivers, Bryan helped shape the arrangements of the songs. Aaron and Crawford continued to play these songs, continually looking for a Bass player and a permanent singer. Mark was a mutual friend of theirs and in 1989 decided to take up Bass guitar. A new singer joined the group a year later, taking the band in a different direction and abandoning the previous material written by Aaron, Crawford, Bryan and Mark. The group disbanded in early 1992. In late 1996, Crawford decided to record the old songs in order to have a finished professional format. Aaron, Mark and Bryan agreed to assist in the recording. The resulting efforts were completed in 1998 in the form of the album titled, "Life Size Sole." This new body of work required a new band name to mark the completion of the efforts, and the name Markers was chosen from a song that the group wrote that never got past the boom-box tapes (parts of which can be heard at the end of the CD in the bonus tracks).Tracks ...
