(3 Customer Reviews)
Intital pressings of THE TERROR STATE include a bonus track entitled "Fuck The Flag."
All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
Over the course of numerous uniformly excellent albums, Anti-Flag has established itself as one the most musically accomplished, intelligent, and passionate politically inclined punk bands on the hardcore scene. Unlike similar groups, whose knuckle-headed propagandizing rarely gets beyond well-meaning but simplistic sloganeering designed more to incite unrest than to solve problems, the Pittsburgh-based foursome carefully considers its viewpoints before committing them to wax (to the extent that each song is accompanied by an explanation complete with bibliographical references).
Musically, Anti-Flag takes cues not only from old-school masters like the Exploited and the Descendents, but explores advanced harmonic and rhythmic territory that recalls everyone from the similarly minded Rage Against the Machine to legendary Canadian prog-rockers Rush. Of special mention are Chris #2's snappy basslines, which often drive the songs in Bruce Foxton (of the Jam)-like fashion. With super-clean production that rivals the output of any major label wannabes, THE TERROR STATE ups the ante for socially conscious punk by infusing the oft-tiresome genre with welcome doses of spirit, chops, and musical inventiveness.
Recorded at Skate Park and Mr. Small's Theater, Millvale, Pennsylvania.

Terror State
$6.65 This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
Principally recorded at Mid-Can Studios, Winnipeg, Canada in August, 2000.
It's been five long years since Propagandhi last released an album. In the interim, much to no one's surprise, the world has not become a better place; thus, the return of this trio to action comes as welcome relief for those in need of a shot of political rejuvenation. During Propagandhi's hiatus, bassist/vocalist John departed, replaced by the rather more verbosely monikered Tae-Bo Todd the Rod Kowalski. But what hasn't changed is the group's attitude: They're still raging...oops, one is tempted to say anarcho-punks, a tag the band members loudly disclaim, so let's say agit-rockers. Certainly rock is a sturdy enough genre to hold the trio's predilection for slamming hardcore into speed metal, then thrashing it to death with a good old punk rock beat. And while they may not be as melodic as many of their fellow Fat bands, they aren't beyond writing a damn catchy chorus. Beyond the high-energy, fists-in-the-air music, Today's Empire, Tomorrow's Ashes delivers up vituperative lyrics on a variety of hard-hitting subjects. Like most next door neighbors, the members of ...
| | Fat Music Vol. 5: Live Fat, Die Young CD (2001)
Terror State
$5.79 This compilation of Fat Wreck Chords' considerable roster of alternative/punk bands includes such hardy perennial acts as No Use For A Name, Propaghandi, and Lagwagon, all of whom deserve medals for service beyond the call to the disenfranchised youth of (by now) a couple of generations. It goes without saying that all these bands operate below (or above) major label radar, but they're all hugely enjoyable either despite or because of this.
The amphetamine rush of Anti-Flag's "Seattle Was a Riot" sounds like the Gang Of Four on steroids-it's ...

| | Halford III: Winter Songs CD (2009) Special Edition; Digipak
Terror State
$13.58 At first glance, Halford's entry into the crowded holiday market looks like a parody. Heavy metal and Christmas make for strange bedfellows, and WINTER SONGS' pastoral cover art -- which depicts Rob Halford staring wistfully (with a goatee and shades) into a soft, snowy pine forest -- screams Spinal Tap. ...

| | Stereotyperider Under The Influence, Vol. 1 CD (2004)
Terror State
$8.79 There are few surprises on Stereotyperider's covers album Under the Influence, Vol. 1, from the unimaginative title on down. Would anyone who has heard Stereotyperider's previous three albums' worth of post-hardcore indie rock be surprised to discover that they really like Archers of Loaf, the Pixies, Fugazi and the Descendents? Songs by all four of those bands, along with second-string grunge-rockers Seaweed, the proto-emo Quicksand and the Cure, appear here, all of ...
