Ostensibly a children's album, You Are My Flower is as warm and engaging as any of Ida's more "mature" works -- a collection of traditional folk and country tunes culled from the songbooks of the Carter Family, Leadbelly, and others, this sweet, lovely set is family-friendly in the truest sense, appealing to young listeners while never so cutesy or cloying that adult ears will beg for mercy. Not an official Ida release -- only Elizabeth Mitchell and Dan Littleton appear, and neither is even referenced on the outer sleeve -- it nevertheless maintains all the hallmarks of the group's previous output, buoyed by precise, intimate harmonies, lilting acoustic melodies, and an emotional purity that makes a similar project virtually unthinkable coming from any of the band's contemporaries. For hip parents seeking to raise hip kids, essential listening. ~ Jason Ankeny
Personnel: Elizabeth Mitchell (guitar); Daniel Littleton (guitar); Warren (flute).

| | Music Of The Fiji Islands CD (2005)
You Are My Flower music CDs
$9.99 This collection of traditional Fijian meke songs admirably concentrates on capturing raw performances, rather than glossing them over with slick production. So many "budget" world compilations strive to modernize the genre they are featuring, usually at the expense of authenticity. Arc forgoes this approach with their Music of the Fiji Islands collection and delivers an accurate, encyclopedic overview of this particular musical style. The instrumentation is generally primitive, consisting of lali (slit drums), derua (stamping tubes), clap sticks, and cobo (refined human handclapping), with the occasional ukulele and guitar thrown into the percussion-heavy arrangements. Voices ...

| | Babyface MTV Unplugged Nyc 1997 CD (1997)
You Are My Flower songs
$5.95 "How Come, How Long" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.
As one of the hottest songwriter/producers of the nineties, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds has worked with such disparate artists as Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men and Eric Clapton, and is the owner of too many awards to count. He is also the co-founder of LaFace Records, home of Toni Braxton and TLC. But, fortunately for his fans, he can't be kept away from the stage, and the MTV Unplugged series provides the perfect venue for his work.
In addition to his behind-the-scenes talents, Babyface has all the tools necessary to be a captivating stage performer. His voice is silky smooth and is capable of leaping from a low, sexy whisper to a supple falsetto in the space of two notes, and he's a gifted guitarist and pianist. Joining him on this occasion is a veritable who's-who of performers who have found success interpreting his songs. Eric Clapton joins him for an upbeat version of "Change The World" and the down home "Talk To Me." Shanice Wilson, K-Ci & JoJo also drop by to sing a tune or two.
Recorded live on September 25, 1997.
Personnel: Babyface, Beverly Crowder, Shanice Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Kevon Edmonds, Melvin Edmonds, ...
| | Lazarus A D Onslaught CD (2007)
You Are My Flower album
$10.69 The burly Wisconsin dudes of Lazarus A.D. are happily stuck in the 1980s thrash utopia embodied by classic bands like Slayer, Testament, and Anthrax, among others. They've embraced the classic style, but refuse to remain a slave to it on THE ONSLAUGHT. The album's title is certainly truth in advertising, as its contents are almost unrelentingly heavy. Sheet-metal riffs fall like hammer blows on the oppressive "Absolute Power," solos like rusty meathooks sink deep into"Rebirth," and the stop-start gallop of "Forged in Blood" ...
