This is the only Chester Erskine video. Adventures Of Ma And Pa Kettle - Volume 1 Movie Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Great collection of classics Outstanding restoration of classic movies! "The Egg and I" itself is a rather lame Fred MacMurry movie which is salvaged only by the hilarious performances by Marjorie Main and Percie Killbride. I would give this DVD collection a 5-star rating but the fact that you have to flip the disc over in order to see the movies in proper sequence is a detractor. A person unfamiliar with the movie sequence will be a bit confused by watching "The Egg and I" and then viewing the 3rd movie instead of the 2nd. I imagine the movies had to be placed on the disc in such fashion due to running times and limited disc space but it would've been just as easy to place each movie on an individual disc. Hopefully the remaining Kettle movies will be released as well although the later ones didn't feature Pa Kettle. It is also to see a young Richard Long several years before gaining popularity as Jarrod Barkley on TV's "Big Valley". Submitted by Steve (Anchorage, Alaska) Was This Review Helpful? Funny Entertainment The revival of Ma & Pa Kettle through a DVD is excellent. This takes you back to real comedy and entertainment.

Ma & Pa Kettle Both volume I and II are total hilarious comedy. These are G rated movies and are suitable for any age group. Even though they are done in black and white, it is so refreshing to see how movies were done 50 years ago. I highly recommend both volumes if you're looking for good, clean and funny entertainment. Still chuckling Any person who is an old comedy movie buff will appreciate the simple, "down home" humor of these movies. The characters, portrayed as poor backward minded farmers, exude charm while retaining their innocence in dealing with the "real" world.
A must-see for anyone into older movies. Submitted by debi_gerd (Midwest USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
KETTLES IN ACTION AGAIN It was great to see the "Kettle Family" in action once again after some 50 years have passed. The movies are fresh and have really stood the test of time and come highly recommended to the film buff.
A period when life was simple.....

$9.89 Clint Eastwood's HONKYTONK MAN is certainly one of the actor-director's gentler works. The low-key period film takes place during the depression, with Eastwood starring as Red Stovall, a struggling country singer on the verge of his big break. Red's been invited to audition for the Grand Ole Opry, but as the film opens, he's a long way ...

Adventures Of Ma And Pa Kettle - Volume 1 review
$16.29 RAINING STONES, in its quietly observant, almost documentary-like style, is typical of director Ken Loach's understated approach to his left-leaning politics. It stars Bruce Jones as Bob, a man in an impoverished town in the north of England, struggling to survive on the dole while hustling for any odd jobs he can find, or otherwise pushing the envelope with edgy, foolhardy gigs, such as stealing sheep with his friend Tommy (Ricky Tomlinson) with the hope of reselling them--and when that plan fails, repackaging them as mutton for door-to-door sales. While he's looking the other way, his van is stolen, an event typical of Bob's chronic ...
