There is no question. Either you like this DVD or you don't. And that is because you are either an A&C fan or you aren't. I am an AVID A&C fan and have been for many years. To get all these movies on two DVD's is fabulous. I don't even mind that they are full frame and mono. I think these are the signs of a true fan. I heartily recommend this two-DVD set.

I absolutely love Abbott and Costello, and to find out I can get 8 on two discs blew me away. Excellent quality, better than original, I use to watch Abbott and Costello when I was little every Saturday afternoon so its a little nostalgic for me, but my two kids are starting to watch them and they crack up with laughter. And it gets them away from todays movies where there is always a sex scene or swearing or over the top violence in it. heeeey Abbuuuttt.

 You can't beat the value!
No, not all of these are classics. In fact only two or three of them would make a true "Best of A&C" list. Those would be HOLD THAT GHOST, demonstrating their mastery of scare comedy, later perfected in MEET FRANKENSTEIN; WHO DONE IT? which is a nifty parody of radio mysteries and is thankfully free of all the extraneous musical numbers, and their first starring vehicle, BUCK PRIVATES, which they crammed with every old bit they could fit into the (thin) story, creating a huge box office sensation in mid-1941. None of these films are really weak, except the first ONE NIGHT IN THE TROPICS, in which A&C are guest stars, and they only get halfway through "WHO's ON FIRST" (you'll have to wait for NAUGHTY NINETIES in Vol 2 for that one). But most of the pictures are uneven, with little pace or characterization and tons of extra "entertainment" like the Merry Macs and the Ink Spots. Speaking of music, mention should be made of RIDE 'EM COWBOY, set on a dude ranch which sports Ella Fitzgerald singing "A Tisket A Tasket" in her film debut, and Dick Foran singing the now-standard "I'll Remember April", albeit in a completely irrelevant situation. But still--8 features for $20! How can you beat it? If you grew up with A&C each Sunday morning, you'll have to have this set.

These Dvds Are Wonderful, Great Picture & Sound At A Wonderful Price!!! Abbott & Costello Are Always Terrific Fun To Watch!! I Can't Wait For Vol. Two!!!
