Additional Footage; Soundtrack English Flipper, that loveable dolphin from the TV series and films, is reborn here, with a 90's spin. Disgruntled teenager Sandy is upset about his parents' divorce, so he is sent to Key West, Florida to live with Porter, his free-spirit, layabout uncle. One day, Sandy saves a darling dolphin from two dangerous dolts, and later discovers that the fish has followed him to his beachfront abode. Sandy dubs the animal Flipper, and the pair enjoy an unusual, frolicking friendship that lifts the lad out of his doldrums.
However, Flipper's life is threatened by a nasty gang of men who want to dump toxic waste into the waters where Flip swims. Can Porter and Sandy -- with Flipper's help -- save the sweet animal from this politically incorrect doom? A 14-year-old boy consigned against his will to spend the summer on a remote island with his fisherman uncle has the adventure of his life after being befriended by an orphaned dolphin. Based on the long-running television series. Released theatrically in the USA May 17, 1996. The film grossed $18 million at the box office.

$13.55 With BLACK AND WHITE, writer-director James Toback (FINGERS, TWO GIRLS AND A GUY) confronts the topic of race head on--most specifically, the influence of black urban hip-hop culture on white America. Set in New York City as the 1990s wind to a close, the film is told in a broad, episodic fashion, interweaving several different story lines in order to address a multitude of ideas. In the most comedic, a white documentarian (Brooke Shields) and her gay husband (Robert Downey Jr.) follow a group of affluent white teenagers (led by Bijou Phillips) around the city as they unabashedly pursue a Staten Island hip-hop crew. As the leader of the crew, Rich Bower (the Wu-Tang Clan's Power) struggles to leave his criminal past behind and become a legitimate musician. In the most dramatic subplot, an undercover police detective (Ben Stiller) frames a talented college basketball player (Allan Houston) in order to exact an ambiguous revenge. Toback blends improvisation with tightly scripted scenes, and the result is a loose, broad essay on the state of racism at the ...

Flipper film
$14.45 Acclaimed actor Liev Schrieber (DAYTRIPPERS, THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE) makes his directorial debut in this adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's bestselling novel about a young Jewish-American writer of the same name. Mixing equal parts black comedy and poignant drama, the film follows Jonathan (Elijah Wood) as he travels to the Ukraine to solve a family secret. There he meets his barely legitimate tour guides: Alex (Eugene Hutz, member of the folk-punk band Gogol Bordello), a cosmopolitan playboy obsessed with Michael Jackson and other American icons; Alex's grandfather (Boris Leskin), a man worn down by life who seems to be losing his grip on reality; and Sammy Davis, Jr. Jr, the "seeing-eye bitch" dog who comes along for the ride. As Jonathan closes in on his goal--to find the story behind the woman who saved his grandfather during the Holocaust--it becomes clear that Alex's grandfather has a dark secret of his own that needs to be, as the film suggests, illuminated.
EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED lives up to the quirkiness of its source material, and is similar to films like BEING JOHN MALKOVICH or LOST IN TRANSLATION. Filmed on location in Prague, the film features breathtaking landscapes, including a memorable scene in a field of sunflowers. Also notable is the film's soundtrack, which features songs by Gogol Bordello, as well as an outstanding ethnic score by Paul Cantelon. Quirky, funny, sweet, and sad, Schreiber's excellent adaptation provides both closure and hope for survivors of the Holocaust.
Based on the critically-acclaimed novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, "Everything is Illuminated" tells the story of a young man's quest to ...

$9.99 Gore maestro Lucio Fulci's sole foray into the crime thriller genre centers around feuding gangsters, and retains blood-and-violence factor at which the director excels. Underworld boss Luca Di Angelo (Fabio Testi) has worked his way up from the ghettos of Naples to become the city's top cigarette smuggler. A rival emerges from the shadowy underworld in the form of The Margliese (Marcel Bozzuffi), a drug kingpin who wants Luca's territory for his own. He applies ever-mounting pressure to this end, but when that fails to break the essentially ethical Luca's resolve, The Margliese kills his brother and kidnaps his wife. This ...
| | Fall Of The House Of Usher/The Pit And The Pendulum DVD (1960)
Flipper review
$7.75 This double feature offers two inspired pairings of shockmeister Roger Corman and the quintessentially sinister Vincent Price in moody adaptations of the short stories of Edgar Allan Poe.
In THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER, hopeful Phillip (Mark Damon) rides up to the crumbling Usher estate to pick up his betrothed, Madeline (Myrna Fahey), and is coldly received by her brother, Roderick (Price). A most unwilling host, Roderick suffers from "morbid acuteness of the senses" and is convinced their family lineage--and the very house itself--is cursed by the evil deeds of their forebears. He is sworn to do everything in his power to keep his sister from leaving with Phillip--even burying her alive--to stop her from continuing their damned lineage. "King of the Bs" Corman got permission from his producers to make this, his first film in color and with a recognizable star, for the same price as two of his usual black-and-white films. The result was a smash hit with critics and audiences, and Corman made seven more. This is still one of the best, with a comparatively restrained performance by Price, good set design and photography, and eerie music by the legendary Les Baxter.
THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM (1961) takes place in 16th-century Spain with Francis Bonnard (John Kerr) visiting the gloomy castle of his late sister's husband, Nicholas (Price), in order to discern the reason for her death. It seems Nicholas is terrified that wife Elizabeth (Barbara Steele) is not really dead and that her spirit wanders the halls at night. It turns out Nicholas' father was a feared leader of the Spanish Inquisition, and as a child he saw him torture his mother and then bury her alive. He's now convinced Elizabeth has suffered a similar fate, even though his doctor (Antony Carbone) disagrees. Meanwhile, his father's torture chamber is still down in the basement, just waiting to get back into service. There are twisted twists and gristly ...
