The late Hank Snow was one of Country's most popular and prolific recordings stars. His hitmaking career began in the late 40's and lasted until the 80's. Canadian by birth he began his career in that country on radio before being signed to the Canadian Bluebird label in 1937. These formative 30's recordings are collected here for the first time. Despite the geography these are prime examples of the roots of the Nashville sound. Tracks include; 'Polka Dot Blues', 'Blue For Hawaii', 'I'm Sending You Red Roses', 'My San Antonio Rose', 'Someday You'll Care'. Fabulous. 2003.
Personnel: Hank Snow (vocals, guitar); Eugene "Johnny" Beaudoin (steel guitar). Recording information: Montreal, Canada (11/1937-05/1943).

| | Merle Haggard Sing Me Back Home: Greatest Hits CDs (2007) (Import) United Kingdom
We'll Never Say Goodbye - The Montreal Sessions 1937-43
$22.35 Import exclusive three CD set for the country outlaw. Golden Stars. 2004.
Thirty-four of the best and most popular songs from legendary "outlaw" country singer Merle Haggard are included here. Import exclusive. Personnel: Merle Haggard (vocals, guitar); Bonnie Owens (vocals). There are dozens, if not a hundred Merle Haggard compilations out there, and most of them aren't worth spit. This one, however, on Golden Stars, a budget-priced three disc collection that covers his Capitol and MCA periods, is the one to snag for those who can't afford the big whopper Rhino set issued in the 1990s entitled DOWN EVERY ROAD. It contains every hit single and B-side, as well as a slew of duet tracks with Bonnie Owens. While it's true that the Epic-era hits are missing, they can easily be had on Legacy's ESSENTIAL MERLE HAGGARD collection. The sound here is as good as the Rhino collection, and while it's not in the same long-box format, isn't four discs and isn't accompanied by a big booklet with a definitive biographical essay, what's here is more than sufficient. Along with hits like "Sing Me Back Home," "Mama Tried," and "Tonight, The Bottle Let Me Down," are wonderful MCA-era songs such as "Ramblin' Fever," "It's Been A Great Afternoon," and "Misery And Gin," about the only cut from this part of Hag's career that's missing is the classic honky tonk anthem "Back To The Barrooms," but that's a minor complaint. For the money, this collection is unbeatable. There are dozens, if not one hundred Merle Haggard compilations out there, and most of them aren't worth spit. This one, however, on Golden Stars, is a budget-priced three-disc collection that covers his Capitol and MCA periods, and is the one to snag for those who can't afford the big whopper Rhino set ...

We'll Never Say Goodbye - The Montreal Sessions 1937-43
$6.09 Todger, the first, last and possibly only word in pan-genre-omni-rock. Formed originally in Brimingham in 2002, and then reforming again in London in February 2007, Todger overpowers the stage with a host of up to 7 musicans all at once, bedecked in dinner jackets and aviator sunglasses, pounding out a new take on the classic rock sound with a comic lyrical twist and a faux gospel backing vocals. Theatrical explosions of tongue in cheek rock cliches, combined with roaring riffage, noodling guitar solos, deep south preacher vocals and a harmonising angelic choir of BVs.The Good Reverend Christian prowls the stage screaming 'Hell Yeahs' and deep voiced ...
