Standard Screen; Soundtrack English Swedish death metal band Opeth are captured live in concert at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire in September 2003. The band performs an acoustic set of their softer, prog rock-influenced album DAMNATION followed by a set of heavier metal material from their previous two albums. Songs include "Windowpane," "Weakness," "Deliverance," "The Drapery Falls," and many more. Submitted by cesarpita (Lima, Peru) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

I'm not sure yet Opeth is not yet a band I would buy the albums. I heard the singer in Ayreon: The human Equation which I really liked and I wanted to see what the vocalists were doing with their own band. I like Opeth but I have difficulties with the voice still. The music is great. This DVD is a good mix of evrything they do. The live is very good quality but I really liked the little documentary on how they recorded their last album. Very instructive and it made me like their music even more. Submitted by Cedric (Houston, TX, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Opeth - Lamentations: Live At Shepherd's Bush 2003 review
$8.55 There's a breed of (post-1980s) bands with the same degree of grand rock experimentalism as Pink Floyd and Yes, who simultaneously adhere to the concept of concise songwriting. Porcupine Tree is one such band--their sound is a balance of lush ambient textures, charming vocal harmonies, rock & roll directness, and acoustically- and electronically-generated sounds. Their debut IN ABSENTIA shows all these elements in place, rich with the likely possibility of them becoming a contemporary counterpart to Pink Floyd.
Hailed by Billboard as 'cinematic...simple gorgeous', Porcupine Tree are unquestionably one of the UK's most inspired and inventive rock groups. In Absentia is their eagerly anticipated Lava Records debut. Digipak. 2002.
Recorded at Avatar Studio, New York, New York between March & April 2002.
Porcupine Tree: Richard Barbieri, Colin Edwin, Gavin Harrison, Steven Wilson.
Personnel: John Wesley (guitar, background vocals); Julian Leaper, Perry Mason, Warren Zielinski, Mark ...

Opeth - Lamentations: Live At Shepherd's Bush 2003 DVD
$14.45 Best known for pushing the boundaries of progressive death metal, Sweden's Opeth have been gradually moving away from the traditional low-growling sound, towards a cleaner vocal style. Though their previous six efforts involved a signature balance of heavy and mellow sections, it wasn't until they started using the production of Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) that they began to shine. 2001's BLACKWATER PARK broke the band to a wider audience without taming any of their metallic fury. A subsequent limited edition contained two bonus tracks that hinted at a quieter version of Opeth to come.
DELIVERANCE (2002) picked up where BWP left off. But it was only the first of a two-pronged attack. DAMNATION is its counterpart and has all of the intensity without any of the bombast. Clean electric and acoustic guitars and vocals dominate the record. Wilson's keyboard touches add shading and color to the bleak Opethian ...
