We recorded the Rosary for Vocations CD to encourage prayer for vocations in the Catholic Church because there is no known rosary CD recording with this level of artistic quality. Richard Krehnovi wrote 80 minutes of original music performed by professional Detroit musicians at the Assumption Grotto Parish in 2004. Krehnoviâs music was written to support each of the mysteries. The difference between this CD and all the others is that the music supports the mystery rather than entertaining the listener. Although confusing for some, this CD is meant to be prayed.Mysteries such as the Scourging at the Pillar give the feel as if you really are there. When the cello bow runs across the edge of the cymbal, it sounds like whips tearing the flesh. We have the feel of actually being there when Jesus is scourged for our sins of the flesh. The Nativity has a sense of simplicity with the single acoustical guitar slowly strumming with hesitation simple chords. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God gives a feel of a real king coming into our presence. To the listener, the mystery is real to the senses as they listen to the music directed by the prayers of seminarians. At the same time, the mystery is not limited to the senses because music is transcendent. The music leaves the visual senses open to interpretation. We can picture ourselves present in the mystery. We can imagine what Jesus would say or do. The whole scene is open to our interpretation or whatever we wish to bring into the meditation. The transcendent sense of the music gives the feel of being there in the mystery.Each of the mysteries are prayed by actual seminarians studying to become priests. Four of the five seminarians were ordained to the priesthood. One of the seminarians ordained was previously an ordained Charismatic Presbyterian who is married with a number of children in the Michigan Lansing Diocese. Each of them took the chance to risk their lives for Jesus Christ and their stories are included in the included booklet. The voices of the seminarians give a personal touch to the CD. When you listen and pray, you can imagine that particular seminarian praying along with you. The voices are in order for each set of mysteries. Then if you lose your place as to which mystery you were meditating for whatever reason, you will remember where you were in the Rosary because you will recognize the voice speaking and the music being played. This Rosary is not only for ordained priests but also by priests. We did our best to record and mix the music with the voices the best way available today.Motown recording engineer, Edward J. Wolfrum, PhD. of Audio Graphic Services, digitally recorded the music with an Aachen Head binaural recording transducer. An Aachen Head records music as humans hear. The technology was originally developed by Mercedes Benz in their noise and vibration labs. Aachen is useful not only for recording road noise but for music as well. The Aachen Head transducer is superb for recording music as shown by numerous successful recordings in the classical music field. Wolfrum was once the chief engineer for United Sound Systems in Detroit until the company was merged. ...
