| | Joe Cocker Ultimate Collection CD Joe Cocker Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Recorded between 1974 & 2000. Includes liner notes by JP Bean.
This anthology does as fine a job of covering the peaks of Joe Cocker's career as any single disc possibly could. Things kick off with Cocker's studio version of the Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends," which helped make him a star via his Woodstock performance. Thereafter, Cocker made his name as a gritty, soulful interpreter of material from the pop/rock world. With the guidance of then-bandleader Leon Russell, the Boxtops' "The Letter," the Fab Four's "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window," and others were transformed into sweaty, soul-drenched wonders.
In the 1980s, hard-living Cocker cleaned up his act both personally and musically, scoring a hit with the romantic pop ballad "Up Where We Belong," a duet with Jennifer Warnes that was the theme for the film AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN. He hadn't lost his tawdry touch, though, as proven by his popular '86 version of the randy Randy Newman tune "You Can Leave Your Hat On," also featured in another successful '80s film (9 1/2 WEEKS). ULTIMATE COLLECTION closes with a 2000 version of Leonard Cohen's "First We Take Manhattan," proof that over 30 years down the road, Cocker hadn't lost his knack for picking great material.

Joe Cocker Ultimate Collection Songs Ultimate Collection Music Ultimate Collection Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) better than chocolate When it comes to good music, there is nothing like the honesty you hear in Joe Cocker’s deep and in my opinion sexy voice. I have been listening to the Joe Cocker Ultimate Collection repeatedly since I received it as a Valentines Day gift. This cd is much better than a box of chocolate that will make you fat, or roses that will eventually die.
This cd has all of Joe’s famous songs that he has sung in his 30+ career. I love the opening song “With a little help from my friends”, and you can’t go wrong with “Delta Lady” and “She came in through the bathroom room window,” my boyfriend dedicated “You are so beautiful” which always makes me feel good in those tough times. This is a wonderful cd, and if you want to purchase any Joe Cocker music, I recommend this cd.

Joe Cocker 4 the rocker in you I love the Joe Cocker Ultimate Collection, because it has plenty of good songs to listen to, and a bunch that I love singing karaoke style. I am a frequent karaoke singer, and after doing one of my renditions of my favorite song “You are so beautiful”, someone told me that there was a compilation of Joe Cocker’s greatest hits over his 30 year career. After picking it up, I had to comment, because it is easy and fun listening. I don’t know if it’s his deep voice, or heartfelt lyrics, but for some reason it just touches my heart, and makes me feel good. Especially after a long day of taking my kids to soccer games, or a rough day of work, this cd helps make me feel better, and put a smile on my face. I recommend checking out “Feeling alright”, “Up where we belong”, and “With a little help from my friends” which is the a good starting song for this cd =)~ Submitted by soccerrockermom (Seatle Washington) Was This Review Helpful? Like those bands, the Animals had strong roots in blues and ...

$16.45 About the CD:'A Dark Blue Place' crosses several subgenres of electronic music; with its varied sounds ranging from calm and peaceful, to intense and energetic. The album contains tracks that are mature and developed; often integrating several genre styles into one song. With regards to the title, the album is not always dark and blue as in 'emotionally depressing' (the album has plenty of up-beat peaks); rather, the album incorporates dark sounds to create a more serious tone throughout. It starts off with a cinematic/ambient feel, afterwards changing to a more varied form of house, industrial, trance and down-tempo. Each track on 'A Dark Blue Place' is unique and designed to provoke different visions and emotions during the listening experience.'A Dark Blue Place'Total Runtime = 78:44.
