Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles Walter Matthau and George Burns star in this outstanding Neil Simon comedy about a long-since-broken-up vaudeville comedy team named Lewis & Clark who are persuaded to reteam for a television special. However, these two cantankerous curmudgeons can't stand each other anymore, and their mutual crankiness produces both hilarious and heartwarming moments. Neil Simon's comedy is filled with sparkling dialogue, featuring the comic genius of Walter Matthau and George Burns. When ABC decides to do a special on the history of comedy, they call on the famous vaudeville team of Lewis & Clark. However, the two aging comedy stars haven't spoken in years and must be persuaded to work together. Clark (Matthau) is a diehard New Yorker who lives and breathes show business. The stubborn and slovenly actor still auditions for work with the help of his persistent nephew turned agent, Ben (Richard Benjamin). Lewis (Burns) walked out on the team's final show to retire and move to New Jersey with his wife and kids, much to the chagrin of his show-loving partner. The two eccentric characters are complete opposites who worked together as a comic powerhouse in the past, known in their heyday as the Sunshine Boys. Ben attempts to do everything in his power to get the cantankerous team to put on one last show. Reminiscent of THE ODD COUPLE, THE SUNSHINE BOYS is a film to treasure. Matthau and Burns are a joy to watch, and all the emotional ups and down, the laughter and the tears, are impeccably captured by director Herb Ross.
Jack Benny was originally cast to play Lewis, but poor health forced him to back out of the project.
The film was remade for television in 1995, starring Woody Allen and Peter Falk.
"Why is it, I only get aggravated when I come here to meet you? Clark: "If you want, I'll meet you someplace else."--Ben (Richard Benjamin) to Clark (Walter Matthau)
"The old actors home: the first booking you got me in 10 years."--Clark to Ben

Sun-Boys Shine-Time The "sunshine boys" ? Comedy is all about timing. Even at their age , even
with an exceptional director, even with
a superb writer, the delivery still comes down to - timing. These pro's wipe the floor with many pretenders.

Sunshine Boys video
$16.89 The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins with Randy, desperate to be rid of Jewel, hiring a sleazy hitman, played by Michael Douglas in an outré toupee. His story of how Jewel led him to ruin, filmed in a stylized flashback bathed in blue, is mirrored by Carl talking to his therapist--played with a delicious verve by Reba McEntire, and Detective Dehling talking with a priest; each telling their own stories of obsession with Jewel. ...

$9.85 Blake Edwards's return to the male-in-meltdown territory he explored in 10 and THAT'S LIFE stars John Ritter as unemployed writer Zach, who is not only suffering from writer's block, but his drinking is out of control, as is his obsessive womanizing, and, not surprisingly, his wife wants to end their marriage. To add to his problems, his house has just burned down, and his agent is knocking at death's door. But since this is a Blake Edwards comedy, Zach has enough charm and relative affluence to continue his pursuits, which the director regards with a bemused deatchment. One of his girlfriends sets his piano on fire, and another gets him to wear a glow-in-the-dark condom, allowing ...

$15.25 What do a down-and-out Broadway producer, his anxiety-attack-prone accountant, a go-go dancing Swedish secretary, and a Nazi playwright have in common? They're all part of Mel Brooks's wild and wacky first film, THE PRODUCERS. In this hysterical farce, rapacious but lovable producer Max Bialystock (Zero Mostel) hasn't had a hit in years and resorts to fulfilling sexually crazed little old ladies' fantasies for extra cash. But when he meets his new meek, neurotic accountant, Leo Bloom (Gene Wilder), the two accidentally come up with a plot to oversell shares in a surefire flop musical and ...
