| The first time I ever saw this classic I was only ten . Vanishing Point video This has to be the absolute best car chase movie ever made. Being a Mopar man myself i've tried for years to get O A 5599 on my cuda's license plates for ten years with no luck. to me ,the best part of the film is when KOWALSKI IS lost in the deasert and he meets up with DEAN JAEGGER who represents Kowal ski's father. then he tells 'K ,thats no way ta. do it ,thats no way ta. just get the Hell out. Reminding our hero, that PATIENCE IS a virtue. and there's a time and place for every- thing. By ptrbnthbox (Newman ILL USA) |
| 3 Stars for the car----- I saw this movie at the drive in when it was released. It was sad when the producers towed a white 68 Camaro by cable into the dozers. Barry Newman had stated that they had to return all ( 3 ) Challengers back to the dealership. 2 440 4-speeds and 1 440 auto, which they used to pull the cable. Good movie for its time. | The Point is Still Clear I recall watching this film at a drive-in, back in the day when movies about loners who rejected society's rules were pretty standard in Hollywood, and being wowed by the chase sequences and the solid performances by Barry Newman and Cleavon Little. I was a little apprehensive when I slipped the DVD into my player that I would find the movie to be dated and even laughable, but, surprise! that wasn't the case. Newman is terrific as the world-weary hero, Little is amazing as the DJ who tries to be his spiritual guide, and the Challenger that's at the center of the film is as awesome as ever. True, there are a few moments that show the film's origins in the radical 1960s, but it's to the credit of the director and the actors that overall, very little of it seems dated. Even the soundtrack, filled with contributions from Delaney & Bonnie, still rocks (especially Kim Carnes on the final, gospel-influenced ballad, "Nobody Knows" By blade22943 (Tucson, AZ) |
| Such a long time ago, but still great! My mother took me to see this movie when I was 13-14 yrs. old. I have wanted a 1970 Challenger white in color with a pistol grip shifter ever since. If you like cars at all, you will love this movie! By Mike (Alabama) |
