Strawberry Shortcake: Strawberry Jams collects some of the songs from the series of videos released in the 2000s. The first five songs come from Strawberry Shortcake: Spring for Strawberry Shortcake, and while it's commendable that the young girls voicing Strawberry Shortcake and pals like Angel Cake, Orange Blossom, and Ginger Snap aren't overly trained, the songs themselves, which include "Jammin'" and "I Put the Zing in Spring," unfortunately tend to be as sickly sweet as Strawberry Shortcake's namesake dessert. The songs from Strawberry Shortcake: Meet Strawberry Shortcake fare better; "Work Together" and "Strawberry Girl in a Strawberry World" have catchy melodies that are easy to sing along with. The songs from Strawberry Shortcake: Get Well Adventure are nearly as good, with "It's All How You Look at It" and "Have a Good Trip" among the standouts. Some of the activity and character songs, such as "The Strawberry Shake" and "A Snappy Ginger Snap," are also pretty good. But for the most part -- with the possible exception of the multimedia content also included on the disc -- Strawberry Shortcake: Strawberry Jams will only have entertainment value for Strawberry Shortcake's newest fans, not those who grew up with her in the '80s. ~ Heather Phares

With baby boomers and many members of Generation X having grown up with rock & roll as their music of choice, it stands to reason the idea of a "children's album" needs to be redefined. ...

$6.69 'On the real a lot of cats don't even enjoy making their music no more. Its become a regular 9-5. We grind hard, and we grind smart, but most importantly we do songs for everybody and try to bring fun into a lot of our music.' YungstarYUNGSTAR ENTERTAINMENT was created about 7 months ago and consists of a duo out of Polk County (Lakeland), Florida. The duo which is named after the company Yungstar, is very talented and driven. Da Legend and Da Legacy are both 20 year old college students who understand that it takes a lot of work to get where you want to be in the world. 'Grind time equals shine time,' is one of the quotes that the group lives by and apply everyday in their career. When you think of the hip hop scene in Florida, prominent artists such as Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, and Trina immediately come to mind. All of these artists are from south Florida, more specifically Dade County. Yungstar Entertainment feels that it is central Florida's time to break into to the industry and let the world know that there is a movement going on in all of Florida and not just Dade County. 'No disrespect to any of my folk doing they thang in the bottom (Florida) but we trying to put all of Florida on the map' Yungstar. As mentioned before both artist are natives of Central Florida, but are enrolled in Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. Right now Houston is a major city in the hip hop industry. There are literally thousands of independent artists in the area, pushing CDs and mixtapes. The market is real competitive so in order to be noticed you not only have to be talented, but you also have to invest in your self, take risks, and network. On top of balancing school work with their career Yungstar also spends the majority of their limited income on promoting their material. 'Yeah , we done had to survive off of ramen noodles sometimes for about two to three weeks at a time because we wanted to get some flyers made and promote a show, or get some songs mixed and mastered, and then get some CDs duplicated for distribution. But hey, you got to do what you got to do in order to make yourself known and that's what it is' Yungstar. Yungstar's music has plenty variety. They do everything from laid back rider music, to the more familiar crunk sound that is well known in the south. ...
