(1 Customer Review)
Sony's budget Super Hits collection includes a scant ten tracks from legendary country-rockers Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show. The majority of the band's Shel Silverstein-penned hits are here ("Cover of the Rolling Stone," "Freakin' at the Freaker's Ball," "Sylvia's Mother," and "If I'd Only Come and Gone"), but fan favorites such as "I Got Stoned and Missed It," "Bunky and Lucille," and "The Ugliest Man in Town" have been omitted, resulting in what is essentially an impulsive truck-stop purchase rather than a legitimate anthology. ~ James Christopher Monger
This edition of Sony's budget-line series Collections contains the early hits of country-rock band Dr. Hook. These are the original recordings of "The Cover of Rolling Stone," "Sylvia's Mother," and "Freakin' at the Freakers' Ball." Unfortunately, their biggest hits recorded for the Capitol label, so "Only Sixteen," "Sharing the Night Together," "When You're in Love with a Woman," and "Sexy Eyes" are not included. ~ Al Campbell
Greatest Hits is a budget-priced, ten-track selection of Dragon's hits, featuring such hits as "The Millionaire," "A Little Bit More," "If Not You," "Walk Right In," "Better Love Next Time," "Sexy Eyes" and "Years from Now." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Featuring these top selling hits, 'Sharing The Night Together', 'When You Are In Love With A Beautiful Woman', & 'Only Sixteen'. Collectables. 2004.
Recorded in 1972-73.

Greatest Hits album
$8.39 Tracks recorded between 1962 and 1969. Includes liner notes by Harry Young.
Lou Christie only had about a half-dozen great songs to his name, which is still a better average than most pop singers. And what a singer he was, putting that freaky falsetto to its ultimate use on the glorious "Lightnin' Strikes," the ultimate chart-buster of 1965! "Lightnin' Strikes " was co-written by Christie's Pittsburgh mentor and muse, the bohemian songwriter-composer ...
| | Hard To Find 45'S On CD, Vol. 6: More Sixties Classics CD (2001)
Greatest Hits CD music
$13.49 As the title suggests, Hard to Find 45's on CD, Vol. 6: More Sixties Classics collects more of the decade's pop and rock singles, including Lou Christie's "Lightning Strikes," the Nashville Teens' "Tobacco Road," Dale & Grace's "I'm Leaving It Up to You," and the Left Banke's "Walk Away Renee." Some of the collection's more obscure ...
| | Hard To Find 45'S On CD, Vol. 7: 60'S Classics CD (2001)
Greatest Hits music CDs
$13.49 Here's a real grab bag of Top 40 hits from 1960 to 1966, some of them indeed very hard to find on CD or even hear on the radio. Some of them are not really not that hard to find on CD, though this disc (like every one in this series) takes pains to present original 45 RPM single versions, often in stereo. It leans toward the innocuous pop side of pop/rock, though within that framework there's a lot of variety and a good amount of quality: slightly soul-influenced pop (Gene McDaniels' "A Hundred Pounds of Clay"), poppy, late doo wop (the Velvets' "Tonight [Could Be the Night]," the Chimes' "Once in a While"), British Invasion pop (Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas' "Bad to Me," the Honeycombs' "Have I the Right," the Seekers' "I'll Never Find Another You," Cilla Black's "You're My World"), celebrity teen idols (Patty Duke's "Don't Just Stand There"), weird foreign one-shots (Kyu Sakamoto's "Sukiyaki"), jazz soul-pop (Nancy Wilson's "[You Don't Know] How Glad I Am"), and more. The dedicated collector might be interested in the items that are really the hardest to find or even heard on oldies radio, despite having been hit records. Those would include Nathaniel Mayer's relatively gutsy 1962 R&B-pop hit "Village of Love"; Mike Clifford's almost unbearably white-bread 1962 ballad "Close to Cathy"; Danny Williams' anodyne "White on White," which somehow made the Top Ten in early 1964 in the midst of ...

Greatest Hits songs
$13.49 Numerous hit-oriented collections have focused on various styles of '70s music from disco to classic rock, but Hard to Find 45's on CD, Vol. 8 is devoted to that decade's commercial pop in the broadest sense. Where else could you find Carl Douglas' "Kung Fu Fighting," Pilot's "Magic," and Hurricane Smith's "Oh, Babe, What Would You Say?" on one disc? A few ...

| | Raw Sun Rated R CD (2005)
Greatest Hits CD music
$13.29 Vocalist/rapper Rawsun and his younger brother Don Juan Cartel grew up around reggae, but this album has little to do with that form of music. Their late father, Jahsun, fronted the American reggae band Strictly Roots. When their father died, the brothers took up the mantle, with Rawsun (aka Rason Jahmal) taking over vocals where his father left off. The group enjoyed great success with their traditional reggae/dancehall sound in Hawaii, but by 2001, Rawsun and his keyboardist-producer brother were looking to incorporate the more modern influences of hip-hop and R&B into their sound. This led to a parting of ways with their older bandmates and to the years of studio work that culminated in Rated R. This album is hard-edged, party themed hip-hop with speedy, Jamaican patois rapping. There's not much unique about Rated ...
| | Sheena Easton Greatest Hits CD (2003)
Greatest Hits music CDs
$5.55 Collectables' 2003 collection Greatest Hits serves up ten songs on a budget-priced release, so it shouldn't be expected that all of Sheena Easton's hits are here. And they aren't. There are a few big songs -- most notably the James Bond theme "For Your Eyes Only," the dance hit "The Lover in Me," and the Kenny Rogers duet "We've Got Tonight" -- missing, along with some other, smaller hits, but the defining hits are here: "Morning Train (Nine to Five)," "Modern Girl," "Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)," "Strut," and "Sugar Walls." Then, there are the smaller hits like "Almost Over You" and "Do It for Love" that fill out the rest of the collection. This means that the disc, while not thorough, does indeed deliver more than most budget-priced collections, making it a bargain, if not a steal. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Sheena Easton's now outdated Greatest Hits collects the bulk of her pre-MCA hits, among them the adult contemporary classics "Morning Train," "For Your Eyes Only," "Telefone," and "Almost Over You." Also included are her two sex-kitten hits, "Strut" and the Prince-penned "Sugar Walls" (credited to Alexander Nevermind). This collection is by no means all-inclusive, leaving out "You Could Have Been With Me," as well as minor hits such as "Do It for Love," "Jimmy ...
