OUT OF CONTROL is a 2-CD box set containing 34 tracks spanning Ted Nugent's entire solo career. It features previously unreleased, live and alternate tracks. Also included are a 36-page full-color booklet with photos and two essays--one by Rolling Stone writer David Wild and another by Ted Nugent.
The three-disc set TED NUGENT/CAT SCRATCH FEVER/FREE FOR ALL contains Ted Nugent's first three solo releases, and as any longtime Nuge fan will tell you, those three albums are quintessential Ted. A major reason why Nugent became one of America's top rock acts of the late-'70s was his incessant touring and over-the-top live show. But as these albums prove, he was also more than capable of putting together a kick-ass rock tune when it counted.
The Nuge himself has often praised his self-titled debut as his favorite, and after hearing such straight-between-the-eyes rockers as "Stranglehold," "Hey Baby," and "Just What the Doctor Ordered," it's easy to understand why. But that's not to say that the other two albums aren't as exceptional, as such cuts as "Homebound," "Turn It Up," "Street Rats," "Dog Eat Dog," "Hammerdown," and the title tracks from both CAT SCRATCH and FREE FOR ALL prove. In short, three of the best hard-rock albums of the late '70s.
Ted Nugent's 1993 two-disc box set, OUT OF CONTROL, is made up of hits and album tracks, as well as a few rarities. The former frontwoman for the Benjamin Gate, Adie figured she was done with music when her band broke up in 2003, so she settled down with her husband (fellow Christian rock star Jeremy Camp) , started raising a family, and opened a clothing store. Then the idea occurred to her that she'd like to do a solo album. She didn't say anything about it, but the idea refused to die -- it next emerged a few days later, when her husband said "Honey, I think it would be really cool if you did a solo album." The pair began writing songs immediately, and this small gem of an album was the result. With Christian rock there's always a danger of either leaning too far in the direction of wide-eyed blandness or making too heavy a point of one's heavyosity; Camp makes the golden mean seem easy, creating songs that rock without making too big a deal about their rockishness and that appeal instantly to the heart with their bright, poppy hooks.
