The Winnie the Pooh-themed collection Best of Children's Favorites: Pooh's Top 40 Tunes surrounds classic children's songs with some new songs relating the adventures of Winnie and the rest of his friends from Pooh Corner. Rather confusingly, the collection also includes songs sung by other Disney characters, including Goofy (who sings quite a few songs here, including "I've Been Working on the Railroad" and "Camptown Races" among others) and Donald Duck, whose "Old Duck Donald" is nothing if not appropriate. Winnie the Pooh himself doesn't show up until the equally apt "Rumbly in My Tumbly," but this collection still manages to feature more of its star attractions than some of Disney's other singalong collections. Eeyore and Tigger also make themselves scarce on this album, but despite some of its faults, Best of Children's Favorites: Pooh's Top 40 Tunes does feature some interesting track choices, such as "The Sidewalks of New York," "The Wabash Cannonball," "The Green Grass Grew All Around," "Big Rock Candy Mountain," and "Brother, Come and Dance With Me." At 40 tracks long, Best of Children's Favorites: Pooh's Top 40 Tunes might be too much of a good thing, but overall it's a fairly entertaining collection for kids and parents alike. ~ Heather Phares

Disney Princess The Ultimate Song Collection is one of the better ideas for a Disney compilation: it's a collection of most of the memorable songs sung by the princesses in films spanning Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to Pocahontas and Mulan. The album opens with "If You Can Dream," a new song featuring all of the vocal talents behind the princesses in the later Disney movies. Like most diva collaborations, it's less than the sum of its parts, with bland songwriting detracting from the performances of Jodi Benson (The Little Mermaid's Ariel), Lea Salonga (Aladdin's Jasmine and Mulan), Judy Kuhn (Pocahontas), and Paige O'Hara (Beauty and the Beast's Belle). However, the rest of the collection is strong, serving up memorable songs from latter-day Disney films like The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" and "Kiss the Girl" and The Lion King's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." Kuhn's performances of Pocahontas' "Just Around the Riverbend" and "Colors of the Wind" are also standouts due to her striking voice, which is stronger and more womanly than most of the other singers who have given their voices to Disney princesses. For anyone hasn't watched episodes of the Disney animated series PHINEAS AND FERB, it's highly recommended. It is a Saturday morning cartoon comedy that stars two irrepressibly inventive, multi-talented mischievous nerd geniuses (who happen to be stepbrothers), their vain, hyperactive, scheming sister Candace, and their pet platypus that happens to be a secret agent fighting an evil scientist. The plots are standard, and sometimes so are the jokes, but the characters aren't. One of the show's highpoints is the music, from Bowling For Soup's theme song "Today Is Gonna Be a Great Day" (who can argue with a power pop punk song with a killer hook that states, "This could possibly be the best day ever and tomorrow could be a million and six times better..."?) There's also the dubby dancehall of "Backyard Beach," by Ferb, the electro of "S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in My Pants)," and the fingerpopping faux-doowop, hip hop of "I Love You Mom," by Candace.
