Standard Screen; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English Budding teenage journalist Terry Griffith (Joyce Hyser) can't seem to get a break--her good looks inspire drooling from her sexist male teachers, while her "perfect" college boyfriend just wants her as a trophy. So when she's rejected for an internship, she goes undercover at a rival school for a second chance--as a boy. While undercover, Terry must fend off a bully (William Zabka) and a potential girlfriend (Sherilyn Fenn). But true gender-bending chaos results when she falls for classmate Rick (Clayton Rohner). JUST ONE OF THE GUYS is a quintessential 1980s teen film. Just One Of The Guys Reviews: "...Likable....[Hyser has a] good sport manner..."
-- Janet Maslin, New York Times "...Hyser is sufficiently winning..."

I love the movie, but where is the widescreen version!!!!!! I love the movie, it deserves 5 stars!!! and i definitely highly recommend it, but it only has the fullscreen version of the movie on the DVD. I was truly disappointed, i thought that we finally got the DVD release and would get a widescreen viewing for the first time of the film! Sorry folks, but no widescreen only fullscreen and no special features, not even a theatrical trailer! Submitted by mike356338 (Los Angeles, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Just One Of The Guys review
$22.29 The Wayans brothers scored a surprise monster hit with SCARY MOVIE, and in the advertising for that film they promised "no sequel." So here it is, SCARY MOVIE 2, featuring the return of Shawn and Marlon Wayans as well as Anna Faris and Regina Hall in addition to some new faces added to the gross-out fun, including Chris Elliott as a caretaker with a deformed hand that he uses extensively in his cooking, Tim Curry as a professor with a thing for the girls, David Cross as a wheelchair-bound computer geek with a great combover, and Tori Spelling as a hot teenager looking for some ghostly action. The movie begins with a prologue that spoofs THE EXORCIST, with Andy Richter as the young priest, James Woods as the old priest, and Natasha Lyonne as the poor possessed child with the salty tongue. From there the plot uses and abuses from Shirley Jackson's THE HAUNTING--in this case, a group of college students must spend a weekend in a haunted castle in exchange for receiving an A from their naughty professor. Once again Keenen Ivory Wayans directs, this time borrowing liberally from such classic (and not-so-classic) ...
| | Wilbur Wants To Kill Himself DVD (2004)
Just One Of The Guys DVD
$9.79 Danish director Lone Scherfig presents her second Dogme-style film, following her sweet and subtly brilliant ITALIAN FOR BEGINNERS, with this English-language drama set in Glasgow, Scotland. The charmingly dilapidated used bookstore where most of the film takes place creates an atmosphere of comforting humility. However, the plot stands in direct contrast to that, laying a depressing blanket of helplessness over the generally likeable, attractive characters. Wilbur (Jamie Sives) does not really want to kill himself but he keeps his older brother Harbour (Adrian Rawlins) very busy trying to prevent his disingenuous suicide attempts. When Wilbur is rejected by the therapists at the counseling center, Harbour accepts him as a roommate, taking on the responsibility of preserving his brother's life. Wilbur's perpetual foul mood and misanthropy permeate Harbour's otherwise ...

Just One Of The Guys film
$8.79 Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant) is a cynical and self-deprecating former pop idol (the hilarious opening video introduces his '80s new wave band Pop!) who is now playing the nostalgia circuit, but has maintained enough dignity to turn down an appearance on a "Battle of the '80s Has-Beens" TV reality show. Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore) is a gifted writer with deep inferiority issues who's been hired to water Fletcher's plants, and ends up becoming his emergency fill-in lyricist for a song he needs to deliver to teen queen singer Cora (Haley Bennett) in four days.
Despite this contrived "cute meet," the film, to its great credit, deftly avoids many possible rom-com tropes in favor of organic, character-driven conflicts and comic situations. Alex and Sophie fall in love, struggle over their song, and wrestle with their own respective resistance to romantic happiness, while simultaneously coping with the frustrations of the creative process and the demands of the music industry. The two leads (aided by great comic sidekick turns from Brad Garrett and Kristen Johnston) manage to pull all this off with a lightness of touch that makes the characters' vulnerability appealing and not pathetic. The original songs by Adam Schlesinger (the go-to guy for singer-songwriter film music) is charming and catchy.
Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant) is a washed-up 80s pop star who's been reduced to working the ...
