In The Line Of Fire album
$17.79 LIVE recorded at Stockholm Concert Hall, Stockholm, Sweden on February 3, 1975. Includes liner notes by Robert Fripp.
Robin Trower's third album, 1975's For Earth Below is less consistent than the previous two but still contains much excellent material; the Beat Goes On label's reissue teams it with 1976's Live, a truly fine set recorded in Sweden. ~ Michael P. Dawson
Digitally remastered 2 LP's on a single CD of the albums that followed up Trower's watershed tour de force 'Bridge Of Sighs'. 'For Earth Below' was a bit darker than its predecessor, but served the purpose of supporting the Trower band while ...
| | Gamma 1 CD (1979)
In The Line Of Fire CD music
$9.69 For Gamma's debut on Elektra, the band picked Mickey Newbury's "Wish I Was" and Hollies/Linda Ronstadt songwriter Clint Ballard Jr.'s "I'm Alive," when maybe Newbury's "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" would have been more appropriate. As far as Ballard's contribution goes, the more familiar "You're No Good" might've worked better than "I'm Alive," creativity not being Gamma's strong suit. With such a cool name as Gamma, the rays that turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk, one might expect Ronnie Montrose to come up with a nice mutated blend of hard-edged Pink Floyd meets Hawkwind. No such luck. The opening track, "Thunder and Lightning," has all the pedestrian elements of a marriage between Foreigner and Bad Company, the mainstream meets the mundane. Ken Scott's production work leaves empty spaces in between the guitar crunch and the keyboard fills, with the work feeling unfinished or rushed. The Hollies' ...

$12.89 Jack Bruce must have enjoyed his 2005 get-together with Cream so much that, when Clapton and Baker were unwilling to continue the collaboration, he rang up Robin Trower to renew the brief power trio fling they had in the mid-'80s. The Trower-Bruce pairing had released only two albums, B.L.T. and Truce, and was dormant since 1982, so this 2007 reunion was somewhat of a continuation of the project, albeit one separated by a quarter century. The results impressively continue where Truce left off, as Bruce brings his distinctive croon/moan to bluesy, riff-oriented tunes dominated by Trower's silvery guitar runs. Gary Husband fills the drum slot adequately if inconspicuously, but his contributions are mixed so far under Bruce's vocals and Trower's guitar that they are secondary. The previous two releases called in Trower's old Procol Harum lyricist ...

In The Line Of Fire album
$26.29 1994's MIDDLE-CLASS REVOLT, the second and last album of The Fall's brief tenure with Matador records, is the long-running and amazingly prolific band's best album of the '90s. This is probably The Fall's strongest work since the mid-'80s era, when singer/provocateur Mark E. Smith's stridency was tempered by the smart pop tendencies of his guitar-playing then-wife Brix.
Like those albums, MIDDLE-CLASS REVOLT features somewhat off-kilter guitar pop, downplaying the electronic tendencies of the band's turn-of-the-decade work ...
