Young Gunz Tough Luv Songs Tough Luv Music Review Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Young Gunz are up and coming This CD by the Young Gunz is good. I like the variety in their music. It's not all about them being hard. They spit some flows that really make a person think and feel good. It's good, but not great to where it can one day be a classic like Nas' ILLMATIC. Submitted by kw1914 (Baltimore, MD) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Young Gunnaz!!!! The young gunz are one of my favorite duo's in hip hop cause they're up n comin into their own style. Chris & Neef hav the ability to hold their own in the rap industry as far as their 1st album goes, i really liked it alot as well as the production, lyrical delivery and guest appearances from the ROC...so overall this album is fresh to def. Okay... I've never hated on anybody in my life, so don't take this personally...
But these '...' is garbage! It's amazing how kats that aren't artists, OR talented, OR interesting, but they managed to get in the game. I guess this is why hip/hop is so horrible right now. This album does prove one thing though...all brothers CAN'T rap. Submitted by yglaces (Carbondale, IL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Tough Luv
$10.15 Luke Elliot has been playing music for the past fifteen years. "Death of a Widow," his debut EP, is the culmination of several live recordings performed in Lawrenceville, NJ. Wails of lap steel and piano thundering, together with Elliot's vocals flirting on the edge of pop, classic lounge jazz, and Americana wrap together to seduce the listener in hooks even that would make even the most seasoned top 40 band blush. With the release of the EP in March of 2009, Elliot is back in the studio recording a full length album. He can be seen playing throughout the Northeast with a rotating group of musicians. Honky tonk. That's it. When I spoke with Luke Elliot on the phone the other day, we both struggled to come up with ways to describe his music. Like most musicians, he can't — or won't — describe it. That makes sense. Label music and suddenly it has a category and the artist has contemporaries and influences, and who wants to be pigeonholed? But there has to be some kind of descriptor, and as Elliot says in our coversation, "You can call it whatever you like." So honky tonk it is. And like in a good, swaggering, foot-stomping honky tonk tune, Elliot's piano bounces, swings and swaggers rhythmically, with his voice carrying the bulk of the melody. The lyrics feel like short stories, not just moon-June-spoon rhymes strung together. Lap steel guitar shines and wails throughout the songs (or at least the ones I've heard), sliding up and down and accenting Elliot's vocal lines. There's also a thumping, staccato upright bass on most of the tracks from his self-titled, five-song EP. If you haven't heard of Elliot, 24, that's likely because he's only been in Greater New Haven for about six months. He moved here from New Jersey and has spent much of his time putting together a new band. "I started over here," he says of the move. "A couple [musicians] here knew who I was, so I think I had some good footing to start off with. But it was difficult finding a new band. I've been through a couple guitarists and a couple drummers." He adds, "I was looking for people who really had eclectic tastes." Lately his eclectic tastes ...
